langouroux 14
loads of people say that a full moon is no good for lamping...so i put the theory to the test last night! couldn't get on to a fox as he was ignoring the call think he has been shot at before as he was very cautious. but i did see 3 roe! on a frosty full moon night! so roll on buck season! so on to my question......why dont people go when the moon is up? is it because of your shadow / outline is that much more visible? watchman 256
because you dont need a lamp, clear as f*****g day if it aint cloudy either, waste of time imo Quote Link to post
whippeter69 88
I find that your prey will see you easily but this has never really bothered me. Il still go out on a moon light night Quote Link to post
RichardC18 0
On a clear frosty night every animal within a half mile radius will hear and see you coming mate you want good cloud cover and good blustery conditions Richie Quote Link to post
weejohn 3
I go out when the moon is up, infact my best night of 6 foxs was shot when the moon was up. When it is really frosty and the moon is up, now that is a horrible night. It is -4 tonight and the moon is shining bright and i am still off for a look round. Quote Link to post

It doesnt matter if the moon is high or not when you are shining a bright lamp in their face, they will either come in or they wont. Quote Link to post

danw 1,748
My old headkeeper used to say you won't shoot any foxes sat on your arse at home it don't matter what the weather does charlie has to eat, you won't run any foxes when it is a big moon but you sure can shoot them Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
full moon is great if you are going to sit in cover and call butnot so hot when walking the fields imo we went out last night and it was clear as a bell with no wind, shot one rabbit. going out on thurs night and hoping for some wind at least, better some cloud and wind. mostly i will go out even if the prospects are not so good(snow/frost etc) as it does the dogs good and you never know you might be lucky. better than watching lost or some such rubbish which does not interest me any day waidmann Quote Link to post
