no respect for the land!!

Recommended Posts

Hullhunter is spot on.

How can it be the lads fault if he has never been taught right from wrong. I blame the people who pump out pups the give them out like sweeties. These people have no respect for the wellbeing of the animals, nor the name of the sport.

If working dogs were only sold to people who knew what they were doing/those who had people to learn the right ways off of, the sport would not be full of scum.

"well as the saying gos you always learn by your mistakes "   Sorry if you dont agree mate, but alot of people dont. If this lad goes on as he is it wont be long before he is driving through fields

unfortunately we are all judged by the company that we keep,I would love to take more young kid's and fellow countryman out with me but have had a few people let me down in the past, going back witho

"so when i went to pick him up he was standing in his old trainers and old set of trackie bottoms and a hoodie"

At that point you should of kept driving!

unfortunately we are all judged by the company that we keep,I would love to take more young kid's and fellow countryman out with me but have had a few people let me down in the past, going back without me,saying I said it was alright they could go on as I was busy, all the usual rubbish. In my area we are plagued with people lamping out of car's killing anything that moves at the moment and it is causing one or two problem's on certain farm's I hunt, they know its not me as I park in the farm and give them a knock to say I'm going on but if it keeps up I can see the day where I'll be asked to leave.Too many people have no care or respect for nature or the quarry they hunt, breeding season's etc as they have come to our way of life to late after trying lots of other hobbies, therefore they have no idea how to act accordingly, those of us that have grown up in the countryside and hunted, observed nature on a daily basis will know exactly what I mean,it is not a playground to amuse bored people with nothing to do of an evening or daytime,to us its a way of life.I have a lot of time for like minded countryman but none for macho tyro hunter's that are doing nothing to promote our way of life, poacher's etc were once accepted as a part of the countryside, not no more, attitudes have changed towards all fieldsports in general, not just dogwork,we are all seen as badger killer's or hare courser's by the general public,as such we need to be aware we are all representatives of our chosen sport and conduct ourselves decently, especially when taking the time to introduce someone new to the game,if we do not act responsibly, all those grey area's we use to our advantage at present will be closed by more legislation, yis, wirralman

Wirral countryman, you speak alot of sense.

I think it would be appropriate to have organisations for dogmen etc much like the BASC for shooting. To help give sound knowledge to the young generation who have no one to tech them right from wrong.

The problem is some people dont want to learn and think they know it all. I have no time for these people.

bang on

sadly WE are the only ones who can promote the newcomers into the sport(i do as much as i can with youngsters and family members, giving them bits and bobs of what i catch and wakening an interest in hwta it is and where it comes from etc)

there is a risk to taking anyone out with you, alot of people i won't even tell where my permission is (had one last year who wanted "to ask the farmer if he could go alone" disrespectfull to me after taking him out 4-5 times as he had a .22lr and no permission.he never came again :bye: )

i agree totally with the mentoring idea above(and find that a good with the issue of fac conditions) but sadly ANYONE can buy a dog and do with it as they please.

you are all perfectly right that these are the minority that give the sport a bad name(as a whole, not just the running dogs).

all we can do is behave as best we can and try to educate the following fieldsportsmen into the respect we learned and practice.

a good thread

when i see certain blokes who run dogs!! (who i dont run dogs with I MIGHT ADD) they seem to talk to me as if we share some sort of strange bloodlust!! i tell them all the time its not the killing part i get my kicks out of its the time and effort i put into the dog and watching it all come together( to wich i get funny looks like im mad) !!

i think there are a lot of misguided people out there that think all hunters share there thirst for bloodshed!!

if theses people openly speak to me about what they do who else are they speaking out infront of!!

its as if they are only intrested in having the hardest dog!! a bit off topic but still another form of people who are giving the sport a bad name!!!!!

Sorry if you dont agree mate, but alot of people dont.

If this lad goes on as he is it wont be long before he is driving through fields and dragging lurcher works name through the mud with him.

Farmers dont hate dogmen for no reason, previous bad experiences have taught them they are never to be trusted. And in some cases they are right, others couldnt be further from the truth.

in my honest opinion it sounds like the lad is a clown a big joker why would you wanna take a looser like that with you in the first place that is asking to lose permission ,i think the saying in your experience for the future should be (ONCE BITTEN TWICE SHY) .they is nothing wrong about driving land i dont think as long as you respect it close gates etc. its the thieves that landowners have the problems with not the lamping man they just tar you with the same brush ,like i say do your own thing and dont bring no one in
