jonboy 0
I have an 18mth Border dog. Until now I spent as much time as I could getting him used to being around sheep. However I took him out today and the little git spotted one and then took off after it, as they do he went deaf and spent the next 15 minutes chasing before he came back. Have been told that there is no hope now he can never be broken to sheep, has anyone got any advice? Quote Link to post

Pignut 4
Find someone with a couple of rams and put him in a pen with 'em. They will scare the bejaysus out of him. Won't take long. Quote Link to post

Guest oldskool
Semi-chocker (half strap/half chain....fitted snug) collar and a length of washing line. Essentially you have now got thirty ft arms and if he gives chase you can send him off his feet..(after first vocalizing your chosen word for an emergency stop)....fix him to your chosen word...and to heel. Oneredtrim. :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: it might take a while,, i've done it with lurchers and been pulled on my face a time or two... it depends a bit on the dog too, sometimes the buggers learn to do it when you are not in sight.. Simoman 110
The appliance of science, electric collar. This is one of the few times I would use it. Either that or a farmer will cure your problem very soon with a large vets bill or a barrel of no.6 shot. Quote Link to post

Pignut 4
I know of dogs around here (and sheep are everywhere) wearing electric collars. Farmers shoot and then ask. No one cares if a dog is shot for worrying sheep. It is the law of this land. I would try an electric collar and get his attention. See if you can borrow one off someone first as they can be alot of money. Also, sounds silly I know, but don't mention it to folk - the bunny huggers can get very silly over electric collars. Guest oldskool
the bunny huggers have managed to change the good old fashioned electric one to a silly thing that vibrates profusely... i dont know if it would work with some of the mutts i have Quote Link to post
