stevethefish 80
Good question ive heared some people charge up to £60 a day, if the birds are there why not? £40 a day is reasonable, if I was struggling I would pay it, most charge £60-75 just depends how much you want to go. Knock on a few more doors is the best answer. If you see any fields with loads on and knock at the door some will let you shoot it for the day then its up to you to get your foot in. willum 89
hhhm a hard question but my answer would be i would nbever payt for pigeon shooting never had done never will as you are paying to shoot the pigeons plus the price of cartridges. and i would ask the farmer who gets the birds as you dont want to hand them over to because you would then be well out of pocket. best way i spose to the rounds put a few notes up in the local stores have a ask at ya local pubs thats what i did. but all the best to you mate keep looking and spreading the word good things come to those who wait so they say. stevethefish 80
Thats all good and well for us that have plenty to go at but I remember the time I was struggling for some shooting, at that time I would and did pay. I joined NPPC and never used it all, things improved as they do and land started to come in thick and fast. I now have thousands of acres and its still coming in, its true that the more you have, the more you get, word of mouth and meeting the right people etc. All I can say is don't give up and it will happen. assasin8or 0
i would pay for it if i had to at the end of the day we go pigeon shooting to get enjoyment out of it not just to help the farmer as with most hobbies we have to pay for it you dont play golf to help the green keeper i think those who say i wouldent pay to shoot pigeons are only saying that becuse the have got land at the moment what would happen if they lost it they would pay £40 pound sounds ok to me try offering a small one off payment as they might take it and let you shoot for a year if you cant get it free pay at least you will be shooting birds when the others have no land Quote Link to post

gundogbob 1
£40 quid not bad if you dont have land then pay for it at least you get out keep trying farmers i have a 600 acre farm to shoot pigeons the first year i paid the farmer £250 for a year then after that he let me go free been shooting it for 3 year now also got the next door farm as he reccommended me to him and he sent me to his son so got 1500 acers for £250 eventuly so it can be worth paying in the long run it was for me good luck Quote Link to post
miller 18
:no:once you start to pay thats the end of yet another working mans sport gone its as bad as people paying to go ratting.both these sports are a form of pest control and are done as to help the shoot or farmer and you get the sport for free, KEEP MONEY OUT OF THESE SPORTS. i would pay for it if i had to at the end of the day we go pigeon shooting to get enjoyment out of it not just to help the farmer as with most hobbies we have to pay for it you dont play golf to help the green keeper i think those who say i wouldent pay to shoot pigeons are only saying that becuse the have got land at the moment what would happen if they lost it they would pay £40 pound sounds ok to me try offering a small one off payment as they might take it and let you shoot for a year if you cant get it free pay at least you will be shooting birds when the others have no land Quote Link to post
CUPCAKE118 0
I know it maybe very frustrating not having land to shoot on and it goes without saying you would think of paying if you thought that you could get some shooting permission or a one off shoot. But think of this lads and ladies you pay this year £40 the next year farmer Gilles starts to see pound signes over his pests so next year its £50, the year after its £60 and so on and so on!!!! the price has no limit coz he has what you want!!!! if all pests are worth nothing and everyone sticks to that then the price of nothing will alway be nothing!!! you are saving him money on crop and your a part time security guard for his farm remember farms get robbed all the time for machine's!!! So in short dont give up looking for free permission coz you will find it!!!! and if everyone looks for free then greedy farmer wont get anyone and will be paying us to shoot his pest's!!!! well maybe not but the theory is right! it took me around 70 farmes to get my permission and its 20 miles from my house so that gives you a radius to think about. keep looking and best of luck you will get some permission! tip: 1.dress the part put on a shirt buy a pair of mole skin trouseres or something farm practical (first appearances are everything! your a stranger asking permission to shoot on his land you could be anyone rival, animal rights, theif you name it he will be thinking it!!!!!!!) 2. have a pen and paper ready to leave your details if there is nobody at the farm house or yard 3. dont give up looking!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU AND REMEMBER RESPECT THE LAND OWNER Sorry for the long winded lecture!!!! Edited March 20, 2010 by CUPCAKE118 Quote Link to post
