GetOnitSkinDown 5
last try on this. i want a spring gun, for under £150, that can shoot at ranges of about 30 yds. i really cant spend more than £150. this is what i had in mind, not overly expensive but i think it could be my best option for the money - http://webley.co.uk/products/airguns/spring-rifles/ags-value-max/ then obviously adding a bipod and scope. what do you think? also, any suggestions on a scope and bipod, cheap and reliable? + don't reply if you dont have a sensible suggestion. thanksss!! ;) Edited February 28, 2010 by GetOnitSkinDown Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Never used one myself, but I'd have thought that would be fine for a bit of target practice/hunting. Quote Link to post
beggsybluestaff 1
not entirely 100% but sure bipods are not meant for spring rifles Quote Link to post

GetOnitSkinDown 5
not entirely 100% but sure bipods are not meant for spring rifles okaay. thanks anyway  Quote Link to post

GetOnitSkinDown 5
it will be good for max 35 yards just get a scope and you will be fine shooting targets okay, what quarry do you think it will kill? :notworthy: Quote Link to post
Snoopy. 0
It will drop rabbit's and Woodies given your aim is true, infact if it's full power like the ad' say's it's okay for most airgun quarry. I started off with a rifle much the same. It was a Webley Stingray. I've got no idea if they have anything in common or not. But i used to bag quite abit with it. Try the rifle before you buy it. It may not fit you at all. Then you've wasted your £150. Don't put a 'Bipod on it unless your going to be shooting from the Bipod full stop. Spring rifles recoil. So the body has to absorb the recoil the same way each time to give you the same POI. If you zero from a Bipod then take a standing/kneeling shot. You will be way off. Cheap AGS scope will be fine ontop of such a rifle. Your not going to be exceeding 30 yards so a fixed PA 3-9x40/44 would be perfect. Most importanly and the most >>sensible<< point of all. Don't expect too much from it, keep within your 30yard range and you "should" be okay. Shaun. Edited February 28, 2010 by Snoopy. Quote Link to post

chameleon 26
My advise would be to buy a good second hand springer with your £150, for that you may even get a good scope with the gun. Quote Link to post
garfield 23
try a smk xs19 in .177 you wont regret it and they are only £100 new Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
The only true advice I can give is try before you buy and if possible get it on a chrono to verify the power As for a riffle being classed as FULL POWER this again is confined to the type of pellet you use. For instance wor kid bought an AA510 in .177 it is a full power rifle however when he took it to get certificated for his work the chrono results varied greatly from just over 9ftlbs to 11.3ftlbs after a variety of pellets which will in effect alter your distance, accuracy and POI The results are in another topic on here if you are interested. I don't know how long you've been shooting mate but my other advice would be plenty practice and keep going till you can consistently hit within 1" groups so you get clean kills good luck with whatever you choose and keep us informed Darryl Quote Link to post
donnyc 1,203
That model has had a lot of problems accuracy wise .my local has sent all his new stock back..Better off with the edgar bros 60s Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
try a smk xs19 in .177 you wont regret it and they are only £100 new I will second that, I have 3 rifles. My XS19 is capable of a well placed shot at 35 yards with ease taking care of many a bunny at that range Mine is a .22 and I love it Phantom Ps I wouldn't reccomend a bipod on a springer, but they can be used with a good deal of practice Quote Link to post
JackReid 35
Like I said in your other threads buddy, people on here will be able to help you out if your willing to take advice. The gun phantom etc are suggesting 'smk xs19' is only 100 quid basically and you can get a good enough scope with your other 50 quid! You want one with a bit of zoom and nice thin crosshairs but nothing too fancy! I would suggest a springer like this will be just what you need! Jack Quote Link to post
