mig welder spool

Does anyone know where i can get a welding spool? Me and my dad are making a lure coursing machine to help with getting the dogs fit on the local field. But i cant find anywhere that sells empty welding spools. Or is there any alternatives that i could use instead?

Just get yourself to a fabrication shop mate

there will be some there and they will be free.

Thanks ill give it a try Im useing a starter motor i got from work today all i know is its off an old ford. Ill let you know how i get on with it mate

made one once made from old mini starter motor and alternator ran cable from starter to alternator then to battery as for joining your drum or what you like to the starter i got 2 discs cut from metal sheet cut holes in centre take sharp edge from disc weld around edge join the discs to shaft of motor then join to some angle metal thats your lure hope some help
