theinvisiblescarecrow 0
To choose the best hunting pellet do you just go by what others recomend or do you test them out first ? As long as they hit the spot is that good enough ? Penetration & shock value has to be considered. Are heavies the best & essential to put up with the loopy traj' ? Do expensive pellets give better results just because they cost more ? Target shooters wash, weigh & sort through to get the best results. Are hunters lazy & just buy whatever. Are hunters more easily conned by sales talk because they believe all sales talk & don't check out comparison tests of their own. festa 206
its not the case of what pellet other people use will suit you mate its all down to personal choice and what pellet works well with your set up . every gun has its own shooting signature and every shooter has there own way to shoot what i would do is listen to what ppl say and take it on board then trial and error what suits you best mate go on ebay and buy samples of pellets before you go buying full tins ive been lucky ive only used 2 main pellets on my AA pro sport i used jsb exacts and in my AA s510 i use bisley magunms both pellets suit each gun with some good results like i say mate its all trail and error atb gary Quote Link to post
JackReid 35
Look for what other people have tried. In particular with your gun model. Every barrel is different but you should be fine. Then go buy a tin of the pellets and see what happens! What gun do you have buddy? I think some of the top pellets for most guns are; Air Arms Diablo Field / RWS Superfield (Same thing) RWS Superdomes Accupels Bisley Magnums etc etc... Just ask about and buy some and see what happens, most the brands which people use on here will be just fine. Nothing beats a domed/rounded head, accuracy is the most important thing and purpose also. If your shooting rats at no more than 15 metres indoors then maybe a really heavy hollow point would be best. But anything over 25 metres I would say a rounded head, simple pellet is always best.
