Treacle Trackpad 6
Think I saw a .14 in ST last year. Not a common round though Quote Link to post
andyf 144
what is the smallest rifle round can you get in the uk? 17HMR is were it's at, and it is a 0.170 NOT a 0.177! You can also get (God knows who would want such a thing??) a .17 Remington Centrefire, when there are many other and much less troublesome calibres out there i.e. .223, 22.250, .243 etc etc. Quote Link to post

You could build a .14 rifle but no factory ammo available even in the States. Jonothon an here has a .14 Ric Edited February 28, 2010 by RicW Quote Link to post

Mine is a .14 Walker which is a necked down and blown-out Hornet case. As Ric mentions there are others including some based on .22rf brass. Pulling, re-working and reloading primed rim-fire brass has never struck me as a particularly bright idea though! There are smaller rounds too. There are a few .12 and even .10 cal rounds which are based on necked-down pistol rounds like .32ACP. I have loading manuals for .10, .12 and .14 cals. I think the smallest you can "get" - if you mean actually buy guns and ammo for are the .17rf's. I know there are some small cartridges still made in Europe, 4.5mm??? Although I think these are more designed to be used in adapters in pistols. J. Quote Link to post

RicW 67
The smallest calibre firearm ever made was the 3mm/0.11" Kolibri auto pistol, made around 1900. It had a muzzle energy of 4 ft.lbs. Guaranteed to stop a charging cockroach in its tracks, provided you hit it between the eyes. Of course, you had a lot of eyes to aim at . . . Quote Link to post

RicW 67
Chill out bro. I agree the .17 Rem is a wicked little round. It's very popular in the States with coyote hunters. Tiny entrance hole, massive expansion, instant drop, no exit hole. Quick clean kill, no pelt damage. Too wind sensitive for most shooters in the UK tho. Anyway we're a bit off thread. Why does the OP want to know? If Jarrowdevs wants advice on micro-calibres there's plenty of people on here to ask! Quote Link to post

There was supposed to be a 2.7mm Kolibri round but there is some question as to whether it was a different round to the 3mm or was just the same one with a different name. J. Quote Link to post
