Damien030389 1
If a dog yaps whilst on the chasing will it affect the lurcher in the long run. But the lurcher is unfit and quite over weight. Quote Link to post

Yes it will affected it if you keep running a unfit and an over weight, Because you'll lend up inprint in its head,, Its yapping cause its proberly frustrated that it cant come to terms with the rabbits, Dont let it see another till you have the weight off and clocked up some miles on the bike with it,, Then try it again on so real easy runs sitter ect get as close to the rabbit as you can.. Then you'll see if you have a yapper..!! Also make sure theres no underlieing injurys that will make a dog yap as its twisting and turning after his rabbit.. Atb With It T 7 Quote Link to post
mr maggo 7
ive seen alot of coursing guys that aint bothered with yapping. but that aint me ,im part of the old brigade that goes for silence, see no evil ear no evil. its either in the dog or not, i think excitement plays a part and juvenille dogs are found out in that department Quote Link to post
kirk224 10
i would not have a yapper buts that me Quote Link to post

Damien030389 1
my bitch is about 2 year old but she hasn't been out for about 3 months because she has had a litter and she only yaps abit. i think is might be because she quite unfit and over weight a little. Quote Link to post
longdog13 36
I Think the general consensus is to get your dog reasonably fit and not still feeding pups before you attempt to work them, you could do some real physical and psychologically damage At 2 years old she is only just full formed and to go through having a litter at that age is tough enough for her to deal with, so ease her in with some quality walks and don't rush her into working, you sound like you know the problem anyway, so simply fix it first ATB Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
Two year old recently had a litter overweight and unfit and you wonder why its yapping if it yapped before all this it will carry on yapping a litter of pups DONT cure yapping. Quote Link to post
