adamthomas64 1
hi lads and lasses, im after some advice on which pistol to buy, it will be for plinking and target shooting down the range, and occasionally dispatching trapped vermin, (mainly rats) i dont really have much experience with pistols to be honest and would like some advice off of the people who know, ive been looking at both the hw45 silverstar and the brocock aimx grand prix, has anyone used either of these before? if so how have you found them and are they worth their heavy price tags? thanks for reading, best regards Adam Quote Link to post

aaronpigeonplucker 32
from my limited knowledge of pistols webley ones which break forward are quite good and reliable. also the HW spring pistols are good too. try to avoid co2 pistols as there power fluctuates in accordance to the tempreture. this looks really nice: Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Hi Adam. PHANTOM on here shoot's pistol's I think. Nice bloke and very helpfull too, Im sure he will help you out buddy. ATB. Bill. I do indeed Bill Lots of pro's and cons here. If your looking at despatiching vermin from POINT BLANK (as in Trapped); then the more powerfull the better and I would say go for a .22 The HW45 is an excellent choice (silver star is a little on the steep side as its a comemorative one I believe). The 45 is a hell of a pistol to get to grips with for target and plinking when used at full power (its a dual power pistol) As Aaron points out the Alecto is great pistol that has 3 power settings and is fantastic for plinking and even informal target shooting such as the ones held by us at the umarex boys club. But for vermin, not ideal unless you can hit the brainstem each time? For close range vermin the Sheridan .22 range is as close to full power as you will get (but hey are Co2). General all round pistol for plinking and the despatch of trapped or injured vermin the sheridan or the HW45 (also in .22) are the only ones I would use. What ever you do dont ask this question on the airgunbbs as you will recieve an instant ban! Phantom In my Quote Link to post
