Why are terriers coupled? ....what advantage does it give to just having them each on their own lead?

Why are terriers coupled as a rule but the other types aren't (lurchers, gundogs, etc.)??

I told you....very basic question :icon_redface:

Ih the old days when terriers ran with hounds coupled terrier could run along

side the huntman or terrier man without the fear of terrier getting to ground

in the days before 4x4 and qauds, now it just simple to walk two on couplings ;)

So mainly tradition??? ....but still useful enough to be practical??

Why hasn't it caught on with the other types?

its easier when they are coupled, i have coupling for my running dogs and terrs, so i only have two leeds and four doogs, hounds are coupled to teach the young entry, when walking out, so they become part of the pack to stay with the pack, i dont think tradition comes in to it, more to make life easier for the huntsman.
