Bigshrimp 5
Just wanted to get an idea of how often you lot get out in the field (hunting or training) with your dogs. I know this will change throughout the year as the weather and hunting seasons change. I don't have a hunting dog but have a dog I compete with in a protection sport (Schutzhund). We compete in tracking obedience and protection so quite a lot of exercised to teach (and srew up ). We train 2 weekday evenings and Sunday mornings during the summer, and Saturday mornings only during the winter. With a pup some sort of work would be required at least once a day for shorter periods. What about your schedule?? Mods: This is posted on the Lurcher, Terrier and Gundog forums as they are different types of dogs requiring different schedules. Hope this is OK to do. 1 Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
with the young lurcher i train him a bit every day( retrieve and basic commands etc he is nearly five months) the terrier is up and running as far as the basics are concerned (10 months). i get out three or four times a week for a good long walk/hunting(bushing to gun, ferreting, rough shooting, beating etc). i take them everywhere i go so they can see all situations. at the age they are they fight for about 5 or six hours of the day instigated by both they have the run of the garden(and wreck that every day too). i'm happy they are getting enough exercise and both looking fit and healthy. keep them tired and they are better to have around you looking forward to how this compares to others. yis waidmann Quote Link to post

SHOTGUNSNIPER 47
Last year I hunted 2 to four days a week during the furbearers season here in Arizona - Sept through March. I scouted and ran 30 + trail cameras so my Jack Russel tagged along for two day's per week through the summer. We would shoot jack rabbits over her during these summer camera runs. This year I have not been out as much 4 or five day's a month. Got out this week; A hunting partner wounded a Grey Fox so I set the Jack Russel out - She treed the fox in a standing hollow tree and had a great time driving the fox out so we could finish it.
