zak-s410 0
Im in the process of sorting out all my stuff for an fac and sgc Iv been looking at this shotgun http://gunmart.net/gun_review/hushpower_mossberg_12g_pump-action_shotgun/ and want to know what licence the 5+1 goes on? i think its the FAC because it says Section 1 format, but unsure. And would it make that much differance having 3 more shots? Also do you think that the feo would give me 1 on my first ticket? Thanks Zak Quote Link to post
stubby 175
you have to state a good reason for wanting a 5 +1, a not just because it holds extra carts Quote Link to post
Colster 1
Yes it's section 1 if it holds more than 3 carts (2+1) and as said you need a reason to own (like any FAC gun). There is a sport called Practical Shotgun specifically for Section 1 shotguns. Maybe worth looking into if a Section 1 is really what you want. High levels of Pigeon infestation is another possible but you may struggle to get it cleared for clays. Quote Link to post
zak-s410 0
Cheers for the info lads , and i think il just go for the 2+1. 3 shots should be more than enough anyway. Thanks Zak Quote Link to post
RicW 67
Just to add Home Office advice to FEOs states that long mag shotguns are FAC and should only be granted for control of flocking pigeons and/or corvids which are damaging crops. That is advice not law but seems to be the way most FEOs go. Ric Edited February 26, 2010 by RicW Quote Link to post
jackinbox99 41
Ive always thought that the rules regarding Sec1 shotguns are a bit mad. For example, ive got both the .410 version of the mossberg hushpower above, and a semi auto 12bore beretta 391. Now, i am perfectly allowed to use both on any land ive got permission to shoot on. But, if i wanted to expand either gun to fire more than the 2+1 allowed, then I have to apply for a FAC, get a slot for that gun, the gun is then classed as a Sec1 gun rather than a normal shotgun which affects its resale value, i then have to get the land approved by the FEO for use for that gun etc... etc... All because I want more than the 2+1 shots from the same shotgun. In all fairness, the only time ive felt ive wanted more than 2+1 is when shooting clays, and having an extra 1 or 2 shots would save me having to reload as often. Quote Link to post

The Home Guidance notes to Firearms Offices suggests that Sec 1 shotguns should always be granted as open tickets by default to save FEO's having to survey land just for their use but as we all know FLO's differ from region in how they interpret these notes.
