I wouldnt say im one to shirk away from controversial debates and id like to think im loyal to my beliefs and so for that reason i,ll nail my colours to the mast and say there is no greater,honest or dedicated sport than dog matching when done correctly....on a worldwide scale i met some of the finest men of honour and decency through the apbt breed who i can still call friends to this day.....personally i dont break laws any longer in any area of life as these days life offers too much to lose making the risks just not worth the rewards,but i have total admiration for those who dedicate themself to the apbt breed in todays times....the asian idiots and wannabe pricks who are in the majority these days i would spit on as quick as look at them as they have no honesty or respect for the dogs......

You idiots talking about dog matching like you know what your talking about because you have read newspaper reports should accept any anti who comes on this site and calls you a monster for hunting down poor defenceless animals ...you just cant have it both ways !

I have recently come back from america sorting some buiseness but spent 2 days on the yard of a dogman with some of the cleanest,healthiest most vigorous and human friendly apbt,s i have ever come across in near 30 years around dogs,these dogs oozed class and breeding and it was a privelege to be amongst such quality and years of history and knowledge.

Reading headlines and topics such as these simply put things in perspective and make me realize the true lovers of the apbt breed can live happily with the memories and be comfortable with the fact the idiots like some of those posting here never did or never will have......and thats the pleasure of those memories and this very special breed of dog.

absolutly spot on mate! I think most of the people who slate apbt's have never been around one. If they had, I do feel thier views would change.I Think the answer to the current "pitbull type" problem is to ban all asians from owning dogs! any decent dogman with an apbt wouldn't dream of matching his dog with the animals these idiots own. as for the lock jaw stuff on here, ffs, do you believe in the bogey man too?? apbt's grip and hold out of gameness, which is developed over years of intense training. the apbt is a legend of a breed, it was the first breed recognised by the american kennal club, which says alot! they are a struglling breed due to narrow minded people who see a large dog, that has been bred (in the distant past in most cases) as a fighting dog. I really am saddend that people on this sit who take so much stick for hunting defensless rabbits can complain about a breed of dog that went into the breeding of one of thier cofre dogs to breed from. the apbt was put into greyhounds to increase thier gameness, that is where the brindle colour of greyhounds come from. sorry to be so long winded, im just sick of people talking about what they don't know.

Put it this way if they came for my dogs they would better bring a squad because i would lump at least half a dozen of them before they got anywhere i would happily do time for anyone that ever harmed a hair on my dogs head look at it this way they were loyal to you so why should you stand and let some twats take them to have them pts. People are convinced the pit is a demon of a dog but look at the american's they have dozens of them sleeping in there kids beds in packs and no problem. The hype sends the averege jo against the breed and realy they are about as dangerous as mice if socialised and raised correctly. Its another failure they would be aswel lifting the ban cause there are as many in this country now than ever has been. It winds me up when people cross a road to avoid a bullbread that wouldnt look at them twice because they think they are a danger oh it infuryates me they need to ban all the junkies mare chance of one of them biting you !

yes but the best of the breed are not here, but over the pond.?? So with a small [gene pool], breeding sometimes of not the best temps as happend, plus have gone to the wrong people. That was the down fall in this country.???

I owned a Pit/Shepard mix it was the most intelligent dog I have ever owned. He had a face that only a mother could love and was quite intimidating to non dog people. He just looked tuff! These type of dogs are seen as a threat by some; A sort of living weapon , all hunting dogs could be classed as weapons of sort.

Most dogs are loyal and will defend their master and their territory. In this one aspect of dog wisdom I believe our four legged friends have it correct, they are ready to fight for what is theirs. A don't take my bone mentality.

I think the best thing to happen to apbt's in recent years is that bloke who does "the dog whisperer" on t.v, ceaser millan. He has shown the true nature of the breed, which is a loving and loyal dog.

there is nothing wrong with pitbulls its the owners that make them into fighting dogs. ive seen a few pitbulls round about and 2 of them were playing with a small child if not a toddler! there were a bunch of dog fighting lads in yarm and they got nackered, they were bringing dogs from over sea's.

what chance has the breed got when all the idiots are breeding from the most aggresive dogs towards people ther was a program on bbc three about it last year but ther were other dogs like douge mixes to. you wouid think they wouid just go for the owners because if pits disapear they will move on to the next breed .so why not stop the problem with the owners. and they always directly link an out of control pit with dog fighting whats that all about to gain suport by the gullable or what ?

Well if you bully type owners on here are genuine lads then i take my hat off to you's for your passion and love of your dogs. Its shit when you own a type of dog and all it gets is bad press,unfortunately ive only ever met the bad owners which i guess has prejudiced the way i think about the dogs?

I can see why people would want to own this kind of dog,its just a shame that they are portrayed in such a bad light because of the idiots.

I think the pitbull types could run into your bull lurchers,heres a site that has a lot of members that own bull hound x's and i dont see too many defending the breed that make up their charges,that to me is sad really.I had pits over a 23 year period and in that time I never....and i mean NEVER had a bull to react badly with any person.If it had it was history,end of.I had a fascination/love affair with strong dogs for years.I loved the look,versatility and most of all the TEMPREMENT of the breed.All my dogs were reared around my family,in the house and with other dogs around them.Not all of them were tolerant of other dogs but i accepted that,I took steps to make sure they never came in contact with each other and all went smoothly 99% of the time.I truthfully had less trouble with the bulls than I do now with the terriers I have.I believe a lot of people fall for all that shite written on those rags of papers and I also believe the pit bull terrier is in the bad books due to our own dog men that sold pups to ANYONE,BIG OR SMALL for greed.The pit bull was an exclusive dog not too many years ago,only a select few had them but greedy b*****ds within the breed saw a fast buck and hammered out litter after litter of pups and charged stupid prices for ill bred litters.I could be seriously wrong,but I dont think I am.heres a few pics of the savage that is pit bull and bull terrier type dogs.Ive given up trying to defend the breed,how could anyone defend them when theres tons of unsuitable owners with willy nilly bred dogs,sorry for going on so much but its a sin seeing fine animals being put to sleep just because their a certain look.I hope im wrong but your pit bull lurchers could be next in line,I think the agenda in Britain is anialate anything that looks pitty.

I have tons more of the pits/bulls with kids and in the house but Im wasting my time trying to convert the deaf.They really are a faboulous house dog if you treat them well and let them know they must do as their told.....same as any other dog.My apologies again for groaning on.

SS,the reason theres no family resembelence is cause he isnt related to them in any way,hes their daddys friend Donk,over the years ive met some great blokes into the bulls,some even matched their dogs but they were very family orientated and straight blokes that put the most into their dogs and genuinely cared for them.I know it sounds like a contradiction but they did compete with them and were far from scum.Ive met a lot of undesirables into terriers and lurchers too,their in all aspects of life.Its just highlited by the rags of papers and tv on the bull terriers.These dogs will never be seen in good light by most due to the ongoing campaign of hate against the breed.
