i was thinking of making a ferret box and i was just wonder if use could tell me what material do use and have use got any pans because i cant seem to find any on the Internet ??

Theres a couple of blokes making nice ferret boxes on ebay the noo.

Coming in at aboot 25 quid posted its almost as cheap and the one ah`ve got is a wee cracker.

If yeh like ah`ll dig oot the sellers ID for yeh.

£25 posted is cheap, probably wouldn't cost a lot less to make one .

Simon Whitehead sells good boxes about the same price but you would have to catch him at a game fair

thats 25quid for a small one. You could make a few for les than 25quid and big dubble ones, unless u go for something fancy ...

Go to a local carboot sale , guaranteed to come across some sort of wooden box that you can pop holes in and attatch a strap to. Cheap as chips.

A fair bit of work goes into these boxes and it is quality ply not shuttering or packing ply!!

All with adjustable straps and treated.

You will soon think up a plan when you have some materials in front of you, or make it up as you go along.

Depending on what tools you have available to you and how handy you are with them will obviously determine the level of finnish you are going to achieve.

Ideally 9mm far eastern ply, this will cost you about £30 plus a sheet. It will make your box lightweight, the last thing you want to be humping about when you have a good bag of rabbits is something equivelent to your grandmas best mahogany cabinet.

Whatever you make it out of just make sure its safe and comfortable for your ferrets and you, and make sure you treat it with a good varnish.

Its all a good learning curve. Its amazing what you can knock up with half a dozen pieces of 2x2 and some 6" nails LOL

here's one i had knocked up a few weeks ago,it's 10"long 8"wide and 8" deep ,4 hindges,about 30x50mm screws , 2 hindge locks,2 snap pins tied onto locks so i can't lose them,1 sheet of 6mm ply and a seatbelt strap from an old car.knocked up in about 1hr,All at a cost of around 30 quid,still have enough ply to make another 3 or 4 double boxes.And it was my first time to make one.atb
