Some more meat on the bones of the thread.

 

We spent 3 days over in the South of Finland, third year in a row and had a ball, our host's looked after us very well and spent the time hunting with some very capable working terrier men and women from Finland. Dogs used were smooth blacks and Fox terriers, excellent Badger dogs.

 

Lots of learning once more, about how the blokes over there go about the job, the more specialised tools they use and of course coping with the weather ( - 8 at one point was the warmest day, - 15 the average, depending on how the wind blew ).

 

Every dig was proceeded with a great deal of bar work as the ground is frozen solid to nearly two foot, and then only loosely frozen but, as it is exposed to the cold air, freezes almost instantly so you can imagine what hard work the 10 footer was .

 

One of the hosts organised a Sauna for us, Wolfie being from Yorkshire, took his socks & grundies in with him to get them cleaned, saves on washing them when he got home had plenty, verging on too much to drink every night and left with some great memories and new friends.

 

Last night saw us at the training den, a ply wood structure where the training Fox is used to show a dogs working style.Very interesting and the bitch used to demonstrate performed very well.
