I would assume that every body here uses a shotgun.

Which begs the question. what is the point of asking your question on a forum ??? given that anyone answering different would be setting themeselves up. No??

I'm sure everyone uses a gun of sorts as it says so in the law to do so ,one question i'd like to ask is.

How come a bolt gun ain't legal seeing as there used every day in slaughter houses?,can't see myself how a court could find you guilty of cruilty for using one at the end of a dig.By the way we use a rimmy or 410,both clean and effective in the right situation.

my reason for this question is i am goin for my firearms or shotgun certificate was to see what would be best way of dispatching your quarry.In doing this as i want go about terrier work in the right manour if you know what a mean.If not i mean by doing it within the law and getting right into the terrier game

Most sensible people use a pistol .Various calibres.I find the .410 pistol the best

the use of a shot gun while a terrier is to ground should be avoided , the gases produced into a confined space have killed terriers in the past if you have the relevant fac a pistol should be used in a safe manner , if you have no experience of this you should try and get some before embarking to use a pistol in this situation

.When you have dug down you should be on the terriers nose .Just lift your dog and finish the job,thats why a pistol is better than a shotgun.If it doesnt bolt you need a fecking big hole to use a shotgun

.22 should be ample or a .410 I’ve seen a .38s used I think its too mutch unless you are using it professionally For livestock e.t.c.

Nowt wrong with a shotgun, just lift the terrier and wait for it to show face. Humane as it gets.

Shotgun preferebly 12 bore remember in Scotland it has to be a shotgun a firearm or b o p to dispatch fox. Most times the fox will bolt therefore you will need a shotgun to comply with law.YIS
