gibby 0
I have some rabbits to clear from a warren or 2 where I plan to use my 2 ferrets in conjunction with some purse nets and a shotgun. Only problem is that I only have 1 locator collar oweing to the other 1 being lost. (on a ferret unfortunately ) Would it be feasable to use the jill without a collar, and the hob with a collar to hopefully help me track down the jill if she lays up? If it was a small to medium warren I wouldn't worry too much but these warrens are pretty big and complicated! This is a job for a fortnight to 3 weeks time when my Jill has more experience. Been trying to get another mk1 collar off ebay to solve the problem but I keep getting outbid for what I can afford! Hopefully someone can give me some advice! Cheers Quote Link to post
andy mecca 5
how did you lose the ferret and collar Quote Link to post
gibby 0
It wasnt me that lost them. It was my stepdad 2 years ago and it was his ferret. And the warren went deeper than 8ft which he wasnt expecting, on a permission he wasnt familiar with. Nothing to do with me I wasnt there and as far as I know he made every attempt in the following days to find his ferret. Edited to add that I know losing ferrets is to be avoided at all costs, which is the main reason for me starting this thread in the first place. Hopefully someone will be able to help me out with my question? Edited October 12, 2006 by gibby Quote Link to post
blackpack 70
I would only ever use 1 ferret uless the burrow is very large. Its always best to have the same amount of collors as ferrets. Its a shame about the lost ferret mate, had a few myself Quote Link to post

PETEWINN 5
Always have the same number of collars as ferrets. Its all too easy to enter the ferret without the collar and you can be certain that will be the one that lays up. Quote Link to post
gibby 0
Thanks for the advice. I've never entered a ferret without a collar before now and I will continue with that rule! Cheers Quote Link to post
