I've had and seen good terriers go in and 'slay' big dog foxes in minutes, only to see the same terrier having a pasting of a scrawny little vixen that's been wedged up in tree roots.....

I agree totally. Many's a helluva terrier has come unstuck against a fox in the right spot.Roots, ledge etc

I know of a very good "digging" bitch who was destroyed last season by a fox.The fella who owned her said he didnt think a fox could inflict so much damage. She is now retired.

They are not all easy.

Valerio - have you got any pics of the dogs you use or the quarry you hunt? Like already said, foxes are the hardest quarry we can legally hunt, and I for one am proud of the shitty little fox dogs I own ;) !!!

Again I'll ask have you any pics to give us a glance of your harder quarry, what animal do you rate as a decent test for your terriers?

I'm not so stupid to put photos of that quarry on a pubblic forum and thats all.I think every one know what i'm talking about.if you want to know our way of hunting is a very simple way go to a set,put a dog in no matter what live in the set, wait for a bolt if it dont appens put another dog,if even it fails to bolt you dig.If the dogs quit put another or two others.loks very simple and i've yet to see a fox giving us so much problems.i've seen dogs die soffocated, killed by badgers, killed by too much porcupine spikes or trapped in rock,I've seen dogs enter in a den and simply disappear but not a dog killed by a fox

for Nell i've never criticised someones dogs, every dog that makes his owner proud is a good dog.

I've only talked about my experience in a different land, sorry if someone get offended with my words.

you are from a country where digging all sorts is quite legal so dont be shy about puttin up your pics to prove what you do :) ... i dont fancy puttin a heap of dogs in one hole,,, its a bit daft imo!!

nice reading here, i dont think that the badger hunting by dogs is legal in Italy too, but i think it s the same like in Slovakia, Czech,. everybody knows that some lads do it but they do not speak about that. i preatty sure that valerio use jagterriers or welsh terriers, i do not agree that fox is enough for dog of size patt, badgers which are more than 13kg are too much for every dog, everytime when y digging a badger it s about the size of badger, inteligence of dog - not to close not to far and about y speed of digging. i d never put my dog on badger.
