Guest thebusiness
there would be a demand for renting guard dogs in the UK, the reason I am asking is cos I was watching a programme and theres a big demand for it in the USA. I could see the benefits of it as you would not have to worry about the upkeep of the dog i.e. health care and food etc.
rob.i 26
Obviously someone will have to pay for the upkeep .Plus what price would be charged for rent it may be cheaper to buy your own .
watchman 256
would not have thought so,not like a car just leave it parked up when not in use, sounds like a logistical nightmare, but could be wrong,as often am

The person who is renting the dog will pay for the upkeep mate. I think it could work in all honesty. Thats true it maybe cheaper to buy your own but I'm talking about renting to compnaies so they would have to pay someone to look after the dog, so it would be cheaper to rent one. I was thinking of charging in the regein of £40 a day. This is all hypothetical btw.

The training as would not not take that long to do as its alot easier to train a guardian breed to guard then other breeds to do what they were bred for.
MuttleMcTuttle 21
Who would look after the dogs? Presumably they would stay on the business premises all the time, and would have to be chained or kennelled, so someone would have to exercise, feed etc. Or would you hire out dog & handler? Would be an idea to read, learn, and inwardly digest the Animals Act 1971, and the Guard Dogs Act 1975.
PeakOil 352
Let me know when the guard dog is being taken out for a walk, I will pop round and do some thieving. Split the money 65/35 to me?

The dog would go back to the kennels where its being rented from and returned when staff have gone home. I am will read up on guard dogs act 1975 thanks very much. poacher3161 1,766
I carnt see it being very viable as a company is not going to pay for a static guard dog and all the responsibilitys that come with it [bANNED TEXT] they can easily have cctv fitted and other alarms its the reason you dont see meny gaurd dogs now barring the odd scrap yard. harrycatcat 31
I thought the reason you didn't see guard dogs on their own on business premises is that they stopped folks using them without being a watchman being present. Its probably different in the USA thats why they can rent dogs out.

CORRECT if there is a guard dog on the premises there has to be a handler with it(UK Law) brought about over a child climbing over a wall to get a football back and getting mauled to death back in the 70's hence the reason those 2 acts were brought in Y.I.S Leeview
