depends what the fox your trying to catch has been eating really, urban foxes may go for tottally different baits to country "chicken killers" everyone may have caught foxes on different baits, Id say anything, but the smellier the better

firstley you need to bed the trap in that means takeing off the turf an puting the trap in the hole them placeing the turf in the trap to cover the mesh. he wont feel it on his feet then.

if its a treadle trap the take the soil off the turf that goes behind the plate so it will still go down.

i have always used pheasants but anything will do you could even put freed feed outside the trap to get them use to feeding their then just baid up and set it it will take a while to get them. and dont take the dogs to look at it as the area will then smell of dogs or the dog will cock his leg on it and thats not good

I catch a few Fox's every year in a cage trap. I caught one about a month ago. Since then I cleaned and moved the trap and have had it baited with a Cockeral and some bones I always put some bones on the outside to keep them interested, they went a week ago I'll put a couple more out if I haven't got Him by the weekend but it could still take another month before He goes in but I will get Him in the end!
