Guest Top Chalker
This is for the lads who breed first X bull greys . how much thought do you put into the bull side of this type of lurcher . Do you need a well bred bull , to breed game lurchers... Some of the best bred bulls have the worst feet i have seen.. If i was to breed a bull x lurcher I would use one with hard mouthed ruff dogs in its make up , I think the majority just use the first dog they can, I maybe wrong????????? Quote Link to post
BITCH 135
i,d look for nice male up in the leg, with a strong head but not heavy in bone. but it still dosent guarantee a dog capable of catching charlie. Edited October 11, 2006 by BITCH Quote Link to post
Stabs 3
What are you hoping for in a first cross bull litter? Don't forget that the gameness in the bulldog you are using (you should be using a game one ) will be lost in the cross , and that's the real meaning of "game" I am talking about. If you aren't gaining a game dog, then what are you gaining? Muscle, structure, athleticism? Too many people breed to what's at hand rather than the best that's out there. I've seen bulls with shite feet (I've got one!) and I've seen bulls with tremendous feet (I used to have one!) but I wouldn't let shite feet stop me breeding from what I considered a good bulldog. Guest Top Chalker
Stabs I no what you mean about real gameness , I dont think you would ever get a truly game lurcher ! Thats why i was asking the Q , how much thought do people but into the breeding of theas dogs , If the dog you use is a game bred dog , surly the pups have more of a chance , say than using a dog that has no history behind it, people dont breed the first X for rabbits ........ How many bullX owners actually no what line of bulldog was used in the breeding of there dog???? and once again is it important ?????????? Quote Link to post
Guest bobbys back
i know whats in mine tc, and there tryed and tested right down the line, any dont make the grade are pts,not sold on as rabbit dogs ,and they are tested , not run doubled up,if you would like to see mine go out pm me,if you wont a pup,its your for nothing, Quote Link to post
Stabs 3
I hear you Top Chalker.................... I think a lot don't either care or know............. But, there's plenty of lads you who do care and who know exactly what bulldog they are using Quote Link to post
BITCH 135
real gameness ???? why not just use full to start with then.and the end of the day a lurchers got to be a running dog. Quote Link to post
DUCKWING 302
WELL TOP CAT , I THINK YER RIGHT ON THE AVERAGE LURCHER BREEDER USING THE FIRST BULL THEY CAN GET HOLD OF ....THOUGH THERE ARE LADS THAT PUT MORE THAN A LITTLE THOUGHT INTO THE BULL SIDE TO BE HONEST THERE AINT THAT MANY LINES I WOULD CONSIDER BREEDING TOO , A LOT OF THE BULLS I SEE NOW ARE CROSSED UP JUNK WITH NO " WORKERS " IN THE PEDIGREE FOR GENERATIONS ................... JUST BREEDING FROM A DOG THATS UP ON THE LEG WITH A BIG MUCKLE HEAD IS .......... WELL .......... PLAIN STUPID , " HEY ..... MY GREAT , GREAT , GREAT GRANDAD WAS A CHAMP " ........ IT DONT MEAN 5 GENERATIONS DOWN ... OF POOR BREEDING ......THAT THEY ARE ANY GAMER THAN A POODLE THE ATTRIBUTES NEEDED IN A WORKER CANNOT BE SEEN AND THE ONLY WAY OF KNOWING A DOG POSESESS THEM IS TO ...... " TEST " SHITE FEET ? .............. WELL , A FEW BULLDOGS HAVE PROBLEMS WITH FLAT FEET , IMO ..... A LOT OF THIS IS MADE WORSE BY LACK OF HARD EXCERCISE .... AS FEET TEND TO DROP EVEN MORE WHEN STUCK IN A KENNEL OR ON THE CHAIN WOULD I LET IT STOP ME BREEDING FROM A DOG I THOUGHT TO HAVE ALL THE OTHER ATTRIBUTES ??? NO ,........ BUT I WOULD KEEP AN EYE ON THE YOUNG AND SEE WHAT % HAD TROUBLE WITH THEIR FEET OVER THE YEARS HARD MOUTHED ? ...................... WELL TO BE HONEST ............ A GREYHOUND IN THE MAJORITY OF CASES HAS THE NECESSARY TO DEAL WITH WHATEVER IS PUT IN FRONT , NEVERMIND A BULL HYBRID !!! PLUS ........ IVE ALWAYS FOUND THEM REALLY HARD BITERS..... TO BE ONE OFFS , THAT DONT PASS IT ON THE ROUGH STUFF ...... WELL ...... ALWAYS HARD TO HANDLE AND DEFINATLY NOT FOR THE NEW STARTER TO TO DOG GAME AS I HAVE FOUND THEY ARE NEARLY ALWAYS VERY AGGRESIVE THAT .... CAN ..... BECOME MANNY IF NOT TREATED PROPERLY OF COURSE THE GREYHOUND CAN TAKE THE EDGE OFF THESE ...... HOWEVER THE WRONG GREYHOUND CAN .... AND ....WILL MAGNIFIY THESE TRAITS BREEDING ........ IT SURE IS A LOTTERY ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Quote Link to post
Guest Top Chalker
Cheers BB , I no there is genuine lads with dogs that do the job , you wont see any pups off there dogs on the web for sale , they no whats in there dogs makeup , but every body seems to be breeding them , and i personally dont think most of them no what they are breeding , it happened with the pit bull ,, I wanted to no if the people on here , were putting any thought into what they were turning out , there seems to be a shit load of bull X lurchers getting nocked out .....will they do the job or will they  Quote Link to post
Guest bobbys back
only way to see if they will work or  is to work em on there own and work em hard and sore, and when you have beat the mothers right out of em for a few years, then you know there ready to bred from,to many bullcross puppy peddles about, said it before and i will say it again,,the real deal dont have to advertise there pups for sale, imho, Quote Link to post
