tatsyr44 0
Hi folks! After selling my Sako Forrester .243 5 years ago due to not using it, my circumstances have changed and I am Thinking about getting another sako and like the look and performance of the Sako 85 varmint .243 .There now seems to be alot of people using moderators? my questions are:- 1. Do moderators silence the shot that much? 2. Does having the shorter factory threaded barrel affect the accuracy? 3. Does having that huge moderator stuck on the front affect the balance of the rifle? Having never used a moderator on full bore rifles before any feedback would be appreciated. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Yes, dramatically, often around 26-32db, but it is hardly quiet just the same! 2. Does having the shorter factory threaded barrel affect the accuracy? I have a Tikka .243, one of the first in the country (August 2008) with the shorter threaded barrel, velocity is down a little, so therefore is range and energy, but it is just as "accurate" in it's element! 3. Does having that huge moderator stuck on the front affect the balance of the rifle? Having never used a moderator on full bore rifles before any feedback would be appreciated. Yes, but on my T3 Hunter it is still very well balanced and just not a problem..it screwed up my T3 Lite though until I got to work sorting it out! Quote Link to post
