cooper101 86
since joining this forum i have noticed that there are a number of people on here who regularly put down and tear into people who dont see eye to eye with them!!!! i have my own set of values i stand by when i hunt!! and i have my own set of traits i look for in a working dog!! my cup of tea is not going to be everyone elses cup of tea!! thats the reason we have these topics so people can put there point across but its the slating and rudeness people are doing if an opinion is not agreed upon that im more p*ssed off with!! i run dogs off the slip they are taught that from day one!! i also like to bring my dogs on slowley i have a preferance to collie xz to other crosses!! more because of the type of terrain and the quarry i choose to hunt!! this dosent mean that otheres should do the same!! each to there own!! everyone is diffrent and dogs themselves are individuals!! you are wrong if you think because you have owned that cross and it didnt work for you that you have the right to put down others for owning the cross or slating the cross all together!! i like to see debates as much as the next man!! but it seems that lurchermen all over the countrey have there own ways of thinking when it comes to what they hunt and what they use to hunt with!! thats the way its allways going to be and thats what keeps all these cross's alive!! but try and broaden your minds and ask how people who are currently running the cross you found didnt work for you there good points and then explain what your problem was instead of dissmissing the cross as a usless piece sh*t!! its sad that this is how alot of lurchermen are towards others of diffrent views!! 6 Link to post

Malt 379
People are set in there ways, have their own preferences, likes and dislikes. It'd be nice to think that everybody could learn to appreciate other peoples opinions even if they didn't share them, but such is life and human nature! There's no point getting upset about it, you'll just have to grow a thicker skin! Edited February 22, 2010 by maltenby 1 Link to post

There's no point getting upset about it, you'll just have to grow a thicker skin! i am used to the way people are in the running dog world i know to take it with a pinch of salt!! its more those who are thinking of getting invovlved or who are new to the sport i feel sorry for!!! they look in at us lot and see breeds wich may infact suit them slated and steer clear of them only to realise later on after frustrating nights they have been running an unsuitable dog!! and that the cross they first saw as a no go due to the slagging off they got when they first looked into it was in fact the one for them!! i was one of these when i was a kid!! i was told too keep away from collie xz or any cross with brains due to the majority of not particularly good dog men i first listened toos opinions!! becuase one of them at the time had a good dog they made out they were the only cross to have!! and because they didnt get on with the brainer breeds everyone kept clear!! a mistake i have now been able to rectify myself due to experiance!! not that this is the way to go for everyone!! but for me i had to go through diffrent types that i was advised to try! until i thought about what i want and not what others wanted and took a punt that paid off!! its a shame i wasnt guided in the right direction sooner!!! i put this down to over oppininated people who go with what suits them and dont bother asking the person whos looking for guidance what they want from a hunting dog!!! I agree with wat you are saying but the BIGGEST culprit for this IMHO was a certain writer of books all them years ago saying one cross was better than the other wile demeaning bitza lurchers but keeping them himself.atvb dell Link to post

waidmann 105
bang on i think the problem is more that some are incapable(mentally) of grasping that others have a different style, expectation of their dog. even if that be the case its the rudeness that can get on your wick.of the ones who would be old enough to be allowed access to a pub how many would talk to others in the way they do on here? annominuity makes them very couragous and big mouthed. i have no problem with taking the views of others into account(if i did i would not have asked a question on an open forum)but the knobs who just want to cause an argument( mostly nowt to do with the topic in hand) are wasting their and others time. waidmann.
