when i first started i had a pillow case with a draw cord on the top , never had a dead ferret from useing that , but i do use a box now , still use the box me dad made me when i was 8 ,not bad going as iam 32 now but it is looking a bit "well used" lol

Used to use one years ago, just where i didnt have permission. Ferret in the bag and maybe 10 nets in my pockets.

Wouldnt use one now though, not enough protection for the ferret.

When I was a kid everything you carried went into a Duffle bag, but soon learnt my lesson when my ferrets absconded, stuck with a box ever since

my ferret had a lucky escape the other week my granddad was carrying it in a wooden box. he stepped over a single strand wire fence slipped in the mud and now has brusied ribs. no so lucky for granddad or nan who now has to put his socks on for him.

Haha, just thinking back to when me and my pals 1st got into ferreting. We used to use the square, gallon petrol cans with the front cut out and replaced with 1/2" weldmesh on a hinge.

used to use the bags you got from the bank realy thick cotton type thread a shoe lace through and away you went,

Get a nice sturdy box mate keeps the ferrets warm and dry and when the actions a bit slow you can sit on it and have a cuppa try that with a bag

Used bags in the past,a box is much better.

 

Can be a bit noisey though when the ferrets are scratching

In my younger days when I first started out I used to use a small bag to transport my jill around...never had any mishaps as I was fond of the wee jill and thus very careful...but in hindsight it wouldn't have taken much to have slipped, landed and crushed her as some of the ground I saw was a little perilous in spots.

Knocked up a box and have never looked back. Save yourself the bother! That jill also used to fight the bag harder than any ferrets I've had since have fought the box...hindsight is a wonderful thing.

BOXES ARE BEST, but i still use a bag somtimes, like albert said a mony bag from the bank tied with a bit of string at the top, i always use the same small jil and she's used to it, and curls up asleep in my coat pocket.

 

but only use this method when out for a sly mooch with a few nets and the dog
