6z purse nets 4ft ?

Recommended Posts

as the title says would these be any good ??

They'll work well enough especially if your burrows are on fairly open ground .

Where there are brambles ,thorn bushes or bits of debris lying about they do tend to tangle and snag more than hemp ,spun or the heavier 10z nylon nets that are about .

The choice of nets has become very varied in the last few years .When I started out as a spotty teenager it was more a question of sending off for as many nets as i could buy with my pocket money (read ;school dinner money :whistling: ) and little thought was given to the material involved .

To be honest hemp and spun nets are lovely to handle (in the dry) but even if you are on a budget the 10z nylon nets are worth the extra money over the 6z and represent a good working compromise between pleasure of use and value .

Any net is better than no net. You just might need a bit more patience to set a 6z in a difficult spot than with a heavier net . It's only my opinion but I hope this helps .

The 6z's can be abit of a pain catching on twigs etc, but not much catches a rabbit as well as a good set 6z, they might snag on twigs etc but they also snag the rabbits! I really like them in open burys I think they hold better than spun etc. But if your looking to buy cheap good alrounders the 10z would probs be your best bet.

Although I think bridport do a 8z, which to me sounds ideal. Might get a few for next season. Anyone tried them?

so 10z nets are worth spending that bit more really if i am going into woods and things ?

If you can stretch the finances I'd say so but its no good having the finest nets in the world if you can't afford enough to cover all the holes !

I'm lucky enought to be in a situation where I can use nets of my choice but I can remember what it was like starting ferreting from scratch-saving the pennies etc . I still have plenty of 35-40 year old cheap and flimsy nylon nets hanging in my shed and once in a while-when circumstances dictate- they come out for a ride .They work well enough but just are not quite so enjoyable to use.

god i am well lost now lol so how about this buy 10 6oz and buy 10 10oz nets would that do me

Yes mate 6z and 10z nets will do you well for starting out, i really like the 10z ones as they are a lot stronger and will tangle a lot less than say 4z 6z and 8z ones and for the price you can get twice as many for what you pay for spun poly nets etc. Most of my nets are spun poly but from time to time i do buy some new 10z nylon as i find these are better for the wet days as they wont soak up a lot of water like the spun poly ones do. Check out bridport nets they sell good quality 10z nylon nets at a reasonable price.

Cant comment on jbnets but got my nets from bridport, 10z 4ft and they are good nets at a good price and a good service with quick delievery. Would certainly recommend them. thumbs.gif

Remember you need the pegs aswell.

Same here bridport nets good quality at a good price, the 10z ones i got are in a nice yellow colour you'll never leave one of these nets behind. The 12z blue ones are next on my list, iv'e also heard good things about the knotless ones they sell i might give these a try also.
