wilson4347 5
Is she young? i have a young hob that does the same and just put it down to been young, been told not to expect too much till there second year onwards Quote Link to post
longnetter 32
Good advice that, mate Take your time it always comes right in the end it's just that some ferrets are slower on the up take than others, that's all . ATB Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
The advice about starting them too young is good advice, and the advice about them not being any good until there second season is also good advice. Also them being too fat is good advice. Here's the downside. Many jills after being started to early never come round, and are often afraid of the dark. Even a fattish ferret will still get on with the job, but not show the same cards as a fit strong killer animal. Dont take anything as gospel that i say, i am wrong as often as i am right. But it sounds like the animals that i had for a few years, some days on fire, but others just messing. Start again and dont breed from the jill is the best advice i can give you. There are better stock to work from. (This is no way a shitty post, just taken from my experience.) Quote Link to post

Coneytrappr 30
Pretty normal for them to bugger around a bit in the first season, she ought to come good next season. Quote Link to post
The one 8,513
I like to start them in small burrows and see how they get on your not over working her to big burrows etc?? then when you think shes mucking about are you checking the burrows with a older working ferret ?? as above i dont think they are true workers till there second season but if shes not coming into season all you can do is rest her till next season Quote Link to post
