Mick C. 229
Dont give up on her yet probebley lack of experiance.Sounds like shes just runing through the sets and not using her nose to find the rabbit.See if you can find a two hole set with a definate rabbit in it.Had two ferrets with the same problem. They have come good now.Its suprising how they come on after a couple of encounters under ground. One of our ferrets ihave just mentioned was also a bad skulker. My freind realised that if you put your hand by the ferret when it comes out of the hole (DONT TRY TO PICK IT )UP) It improved no end.Let it sniff you and then pick it up very slowly when it is clear of the hole. It wont happen overnight just keep at it GOOD LUCK Quote Link to post
jf1970 328
Hello, i have a polecat jill that seems unwilling to work. She goes down the holes no problem but comes up soon after. Seems to have no intrest in finding the rabbits at all and is a bugger to get out of the hole when we need to move on. She wont eat raw meat at all and is not interested in the rabbits i put in the cage for my other jill. Could this be the problem? I thought about starting it off with rabbit meat cat food?? Anyone had a similar experience, i think she could be really good as she is full of energy so i dont want to write her off completely. Any advice much appreciated i have 2 polecat hobs who were doing the same, wanting to mess about and not really interested on whats down below, that was 2 months ago and since then i have had them out 4 times had a few bunnies but nothing great, but had them out yesterday and between them they bolted 5 with 3 coming to the net,not to bad for 9 mth old ferts.the point is if you keep taking them out and stick with them it should come to them, you will see a different fert in her second year.hope this helps.atb Quote Link to post
