Only needed a letter of the poultry farmer i rat for to say i work my terrier. Chargaed me 20 quid per pup docked chipped and certificate checked all the pups and bitch when we were in she said she will do us a discount on vax if we want them done Surely not chipped at 2-3 days old!!! grifter1984 0
what happens if you do get caught with a dog with a docked tail Quote Link to post
dillan 19
Not too sure the law has been tested. As long as you have a cert from the vet who carried out the opp and proof of being chipped, you are ok. However on another note, having got an invite from Great Yorkshire show last year to show my dogs, I called them to question showing my dogs with docked tails after ban was introduced. Not happy with their answers, I went on to call organisers, RSPCA, Dog wardens, Council, Police, and head office vet council to see where I stood regarding showing docked tailed dogs,(not that I implicated any or TGYS) each one seemed to pass the book regarding who was policing it. Ended up phoning Barrie, NWTF to clarify who gave me some useful information regarding the law. ( Perhaps Barrie could share this) I took his advise and did not show my terriers. It seemed that if a joe public reported it to RSPCA, the police would have to acompany them, resulting a ticking off to yourself and the organiser of the show, at the worst they could take your dogs off you and fine you and the organiser of the show. Hope this helps Quote Link to post
jarrodevs 5
iv been told that if a RSCPA officer comes to your home to inspect your dogs or ferrets ect. you can refuse them if there not with a police officer and they need to be with a police officer to enter your property and inspect your animals. Spot on fella they are a charity and have no legal power of entry if they turn up without the police tell them to f#ck off. When they come back with the police you can show them your animals and ask them why they are wasting police time Quote Link to post

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
now im going to cause trouble why dockem? iv got one docked on not and makes no difference just looks nice.. im sick of comments saying that aint no working dog its got a tail.. they were never docked in years gone by just by fashion followers....... now here come the comments by all the REAL DOG men... ha ha ha Isn't the tail so you can pull them by it too, if stuck? No its bloody not! Any more than YOUR ear isnt a handle for dragging you about! SO here we are again your comment no its bloody not, , OK lets just say you terrier to ground you have dug to it its locked on , so you need to despatch humanly the quarry being a pheasant killing fox, 1 do you call come on patch come patch theirs a good fellow come to daddy 2 put your hand in a stroke the good little boy and caress him out of the hole 3 ask Mr fox to let go while you get you darling little terrier out of the way so you despatch mr fox 4 take hold of a docked tail standing pert to hold and pull your terrier out of harms. WAY THEN DESPATCH HUMANLY THIS LAW AS IS THE HUNTING ACT IS A DIRECT ATTACK AT WORKING BREEDS BY LACS WITH THE BACKING OF A MINORTY OF ANTI VETS , TERRIERS ARE NOT DOCKED FOR FASHION BUT FOR THE PRACTICAL REMOVEL FROM THE GROUND, A SHORT TAIL IS LESS OF A PROBLEM THAN A UNDOCKED IF I NEED TO EXPLAIN WHY , FOOOOOK OFF AND JOIN LACS WERE YOU BELONG PLEASE READ -The tail is not the way to draw a dog, never has and never will be.You will end up causing spinal damage and thats game over .The way to draw a dog is by both back legs .Not one, but both held together .Ease the dog out then scruff .Any other way is asking for trouble . old school 496
that dockin law is the biggest load of balls i ever heard of!!! before it came out it was only a quick snip with the scissors and then ye dropped its arse in a wee drop of disenfectant and the pup was back suckin its dam within 2 mins... if i had a pound for everytime somebody lost a pup because the vet sedated it and it didnt wake up then i wouldnt have to work!!! Malt 379
Not too sure the law has been tested. A woman from the north of my county was prosecuted and convicted for having rottie pups with docked tails. She'd taken them to Ireland and had it done, had all the paperwork as proof, but still got done. http://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/content.asp?nav=104&parent_directory_id=646&id=15682&Language= Quote Link to post
