a use the short hand slip lead and find them good. ave not done much lamping this season tho. few nights here and there. weather hasnt been good for lamping this season in scotland lot a snow and hardly any windy nights. going out the night tho because the winds picked up through the day

How many of you lamp your dogs from slip leads, i never use them myself, do you think it provides your dog with a better advantage over its quarry compared to a dog that isnt worked from a slip lead.

Hi bud like yourself i hate slip leads.Hate coming to a fence tell the dog to sit take the lead off go over the fence call the dog over then put the lead on.Thats fine if the dog is solid. It has to know not to move on quarry unless its told only acheived this with four dogs

Ive never had any luck with them quick release leads I find they bust open when you dont want them to. I bought a slip from Stronstuff on here I think it was only 3 quid. Its a long nylon strap with 2 loops on each end for your fingers, they are spot on and dont rot.

Despite what some may tell you, there is nothing wrong with using a slip.

I have owned some decent lamp dogs that would lamp off the slip but i regularly had them on slips when i felt it was beneficial.

There is less noise with a slip, no shouting or whistling your dog when it jumps a bunny up in the dark. Or when it runs in on forbiden quarry. I will say a slip is essential to a young dog as things are much more controlled.

This sint about "point and slip" bollocks, this is about quiet control, if you think it is deamed neccessary.

Each to their own........good luck fella's...JD :victory:
