the_stig 6,614 Posted February 18, 2010 Report Share Posted February 18, 2010 (edited) some medium sandpaper first then some fine , wire wool might help if the sandpapers to course you`ll put groves in it try sanding some scrap timber first .. teak oils always a good bet or bees wax , varnish ronseal yacht varnish oil based matt or gloss finish if it looses it colour stain it with colron wood dye first then varnish over dont rush it allow plenty of drying time otherwise you`ll knacker it ... marko 30 Posted February 18, 2010 Report Share Posted February 18, 2010 i done the lightning for my son using wet and dry very fine and took a while but got a great finish with no grooves or scratches of the heavy stuff i use the woodstains with plenty of drying times in between as already said also use the wire wool to take out any patches that become sticky and unsightly.
