There's a good few collie X lurchers on here, do a search. already done a search and the only ones i generally hear about is hancocks crap just wondered if anyone else worked them apart from the hancock crewe. as all i see now a days is bull x where i am i dont get the chance to see a traditional lurcher of the collie type work as know one keeps one. also i know theres alot of 1/4 collie cross type but im talking about the true traditional collie type at least 1/2 cross collie. i know there are still loads of bedlington types beeing worked they are common but just intersted in collie type and preformance. sorry for the poorly asked question should of been more clear. and when i say traditional as lurcher herratage started from the collie as they were used as herders plus catch the old rabbit here and there for food. atb jamie Edited February 18, 2010 by huntingalltheway Quote Link to post

My mate had this one, he dam was a working Welsh hill collie, sire was a 1/4 whippet 3/4 greyhound coursing dog. Unfortunately she died at about 11 moths old when some kid let her out of the garden and she got run over. She was just starting to work, had burned all he puppy fat off and was starting to pick up her speed. Edited February 18, 2010 by maltenby Quote Link to post

Not sure if its his breeding or just his traits!! as i allways ran suluki type lurchers before this one!! down my way yor lucky if you get 20 runs in a night due to the small fields and generally they all congregate together in groups and as soon as you run one the rest get on there toes and head for cover !!that field over!! he catches alot more than he misses on the lamp ( or else i wouldnt keep him) and ive had some cracking nights with him!! but i have never been able to truly test his abilities on the lamp!! as for ferreting its were he started!! i started him ferreting at 8 months and he has got it down to a tee!! i use the dog to let me know whats happening!! almost like hes in charge and im the dope that has to set the nets and carry all the stuff!! hope this helps sorry hes 2 now by the way!! and hes out as much as i can usally 3 or 4 nights a week lamping in season and weather permitting!! and ferreting every sunday Edited February 18, 2010 by cooper101 Quote Link to post
