Newbie wants resources

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I am a keen fisherman & love to shoot. I have always been drawn to and fascinated by working terriers. And would love to get into working earth dogs, specifically ratting to start. I am based in Kent, but have no experience of working terriers. I wonder if you guys could advise some good books / resources to look at to help me get a grounding, before I bore you all with my novice questions. haha. I am particularly drawn to rough haired patterdale / fell terriers. But ofcourse would be prepared to take advise.

On another note, I know that the book "dig deep - throw well back" by J Darcy is meant to be available through this forum, but can't find it listed, has anyone got any ideas on where I can find a copy? I understand it's about foxing with terriers, still i would love to read it.

Thanks for your time guys,

all the best,

Guy

Thanks for the advice guys. I will try and get hold of the countryman's weekly, and look for the books you have both mentioned, i think my pal gets it, he has a lurcher and does quite a bit of ferreting. I will have an ask about on the farms for anyone who works terriers regularly.

thanks again for your help.

Guy
