retrieveing

hi all i have a first x collie grey she is 10months old now.I have been tryin to get her retrieveing for a month or too.. I have bin throwing a dummie for her a few time aday with rabbit skin on but she dont seen intrested in bringin it back to me she picks it up a few time but runs off with it or drops it and runs back to me with out it.can u guys give me abit of advice to help..thanks minzy

try to get the dog more intrested in the dummy by teaseing it, make it try and get the dummy from youre hand, do this for a minute or 2? and when you do throw the dummy, do so in a small narrow place i.e, hall way? somewhere so he cant run away with it, the only place he can go is to you, you dont have to throw it to far, just aslong has he/she brings it back to you, if he doesnt show any intrest, keep teaseing him with it, its a game to the dog thats all, and when he does retrieve, praise him and give him a reward, i.e biscuit? if he gets bored after a while. STOP IT, and leave it and try again later, slow process, but it works! chris

Yes live it alone for the moment, get a [ball] and have good old kick about with it. You got [not] put any pressure on the dog, and just forget retrieveing, and [not] all dogs will retrieve fact. But just chill out with it, and should be ok [when] its ready.
