I was absolutley gutted to lose this one at the beggining of this season and it has really put a dampener on the season although only 3 he had proven himself time and time again.

He was lost in an earth that I have dug many times in the past and once with this dog before so I didnt expect what we came across.

After digging over 4 metres in rock with a jcb we reached him in a vertical tube having dropped down head first.

One of his first in a place that I was told didnt go over 1 metre

i d donate you one of mine but it d be a bit baggy round the guts lol. it is a sickener when you lose a good one, i know it knocked you for six mate, unfortunately thats the risk we take every time we take em out. it does make you realise that some times we take old reliable for granted. its only when you lose them that u realise how good they were.a 20lb terrier more often than not out weighed and out matched in size and strength which enters a hole barely big enough to crawl into then stays there beyond all punishment that is dished out to him and every attempt to drive him back he still stands his ground and screams FXXK YOU THE GAFFERS ON HIS WAY AN I AINT MOVING.they have my full respect. they live for the work and we are priveliged to own and work such dogs.

Good on you Cochise, end of season the right time to remember our little battlers.I had a very close one,a cavein in a sandy burrow.Dug out me dog he was limp, layed him out touched his eyes no blink.Only thing i could think of was mouth to mouth recussitation so cupped me hands round his snout a had a go,thank god he came round after a few minutes. Then like a true warrior he staggered over to the hole and tried to get in and finish the job (lurcher had sorted that).Sorry for all your losses lads, its the one downer of our sport. a.t.b.Burrowman.
