Washing, lubing and chronographing your pellets and rifle

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Here is some video footage of me doing a tutorial on washing and lubing my pellets.

I then filmed me chronographing my new Air Arms Pro Sport rifle prior to zeroing her on the best pellet for power and consistency.

This video is in response to peoples request yesterday and the day before that I show how I prepare my equipment prior to shooting vermin.

As you will see from the results I got some very interesting findings proving that it’s not always true when people say that springers like light pellets and PCPs like heavy pellets.

As you will see from the footage, the Pro sport loves 16 grain FX pellets.

It was also confirmed later on today when I calibrated the SR12 scope on the Hawke software before zeroing the rifle with FX pellets at 25 metres, then putting 2 pellets in a bottle top at 40 metres.

Here is the link to the footage

Nice one Si.

As usual your advice about not trusting anything until you've tested it yourself rings true with this.

Forgot to say on your other post - great looking gun. What's the recoil like on it compared to say a HW95 or the Chinese springer you recently tuned?

It wont be long guys, YouTube cancelled it as it was a bit too long so ive edited it shorter now.

Give me half hours from now lads.

Sorry i cant do anything about it.

Its Dark Angel again :censored: LOL.

Yep Richard i was well shocked when i saw the chrono readings on the FX 16 grains :o

The rifle was doing 11.88 ft/lbs with them and very consistant too.

The most consistant pellets were the Webley Accupells but they were only doing10.55 ft/lbs while the RWS Super Domes were doing 11.04 ft/lbs and not very consistant at all.

Great Gun!! a pal of mine had a Pro Sport a good few years back in the girly calibre but boy was it accurate!! cracking rifle and built with quality, another pal a few years back picked up a AA Pro Elite when I had a Webley Tomahawk!! the Elite was beast!! with some Porting and fitting of some export parts it was knocking out 19ft/lbs, and yes before anyone ask he has a FAC....

this gun was in .177 and destoyed most pellets in the barrel but did settle nice with Bisley Mags and Barracudas....

Cheers Jasper pal,

I know what you mean about destroying pellets in the barrel.

My GP Storm used to do the same thing at 54 ft/lbs so i needed to use bullet head ammo.

At 24 ft/lbs it run lovely on Bisley Magnums.

Here it is guys sorry for the wait

It may take a bit of time to process on YouTube as the quality is quite high

Very good Siclapper.gif, cracking footage. I must admit you looked a Dab hand with that Hairdryer pal! all you needed now is to borrow my pink Marigolds biggrin.gif ....

that Prosport is a lovely peice of kit, I like the AirArms quality from the rifles to the pellets!! it would be nice if they produce a Rifle in the future with a Buddy bottle or one that can produce the same shot ratio as the R10's and some of the Daystates....

Yep that would be cool Jasper wouldnt it?

Thanks for the comments about the hair dryer pal :icon_redface::whistling::laugh:

Why make life hard for yourself though pal?

If you have the tools use them

The video is a bit boring i know but it may help someone out who is interested in trying something new with their pellets out, or is thinking about testing the power of their rifle.

I surpose it will assist the new shooters more.
