buggsbunny 4
i think that all depends on your trainer what age he/she likes them. Quote Link to post
FightTheBan 1,147
Never. Learn how to train him yourself or when you get him back from 'training' he will take the piss as you have no controll over your dog. Know of many wealthy estate owners who spend thousands a year training dogs and they are as wild as fck. FTB Quote Link to post

FTB Just got a new job mate and gonna be away a couple nights a week, am gonna send her for a month just to help her along abit, nights will be lighter by the time she comes back and I can spend time in the evening training her myself, I do know of a couple of dogs that have gone away for training and they are very good, infact my mate has a springer that he got fully trained and thats the best dog I have ever seen. The problem with the wealthy estate owners is, they talk with a plum in their mouth and the trained dog probably doesn't understand what's being said to them after being trained by someone that talks normal, thats why they are as mad a fk Quote Link to post
askiro 1
Hi reading your reply, i believe the dog will do well to have a month off training as well, just make sure that nobody else teaches any bad habits. I must agree with the post "sending the dog away for training", its the handler that needs to be trained not the dog in many cases. I would suggest you give the dog a month off until the lighter nights, then book some 1 to 1 sessions with a trainer, down your way would suggest Nick Gregory, Nick Cox, Or contact Chris Bridgewater (Meon Valley) and she will know even more trainers. No need to rush the training. Rob Quote Link to post

Hoolit 2
the dog is probably at the ideal age to be sent to a pro trainer i start most dogs at about 8 months old it of course varies from dog to dog . It also depends on what you have done with the dog ,if it has only beeen socialised thats fine. Dont beleive the stories that when you get your dog back it will be wild . The ones that go wild is down to the owner thinking thats it dog trained it stays trained forever even if it is never out the kennel for weeks at a time. Pick your trainer carefully usually best to find other people who have used them and get some feedback. Good luck. Quote Link to post
