Guest bluemink
I would love one of these but I like a little bit more wind in my dog . A few pro's more speed than a whippet, more stamina than greyhound, more height than a whippet, more fire than a greyhound, hybrid vigour, need I go on??? give me a whippet greyhound over a whippet or a greyhound anyday. why would you love one of these if you like all the other attributes in yor dogs that youve listed?????? maybe I worded it wrong, I think they're excellent dogs for a purpose, mainly rabbits. the attributes I listed are those of a whippet grey. If I wanted a rabbiting dog I'd go for a whippet grey, probably a first x. Comprende? Quote Link to post
Dan Edwards 1,134
still not really swinging it for me!!! someones got to have a better argument than whats been put up so far???? There is no argument. Two great dogs bred together is better than two purebreds that are not great. If you have two great greyhounds and you want to breed them for hare dogs then so be it. If you have two great whippets and you wanna catch bunnies with em then so be it. Maybe a fella would like to have a dog that is damn good on the bunnies and pretty fair on the hare too so he crosses the two and sees what the good Lord lays out for him. Quote Link to post

Comprende? im not doubting there ability as rabbiting dogs i just wanted to understand why people used them instead of putting a better attribute acrossthere dogs first!! surley a bit of brain wouldnt go amiss for a rabbiting dog?? capishh!! You judgin that on experience? im judging that on if i wanted to cross a good grey or a good whippet i would use a much better combinatin( i.e collie it adds lots more brain and more stamina than either of these two dogs put together thats the reason i put this post up to understand this cross!!! i'll take the whippet comment back there are one of the more intelligent sighthounds but thats not really saying much is it!!!! Malt 379
Fella, I don't see why you're so intent on dismissing a cross you've little or no experience off. You asked a question and people with experience have answered, and still you carry on. I personally think you're a little disappointed that no-one has agreed with the sentiments of your original post... Quote Link to post
cooper101 86
lol i was just trying to have a debate thats all not dissapointed in the slighteset!!! Quote Link to post

iceman001979 1,316
i dont see the reason in crossing the two together when there are plenty of good small greyhounds about and on the other side of the fence i have seen lots of whippets thats could quite easily pass off as greyhounds to the untrained eye!! why not use one of these instead of mixing the two together???!! im looking for the reason to cross them together what good does it do the dog in the long run?? if you cross a whippet with a collie its to add brain!! if you cross bull to a grey its to add gameness!! like i said anyone tell me how whippet xgreyhound benifits the dog?? HERES SOME REASONS FOR YA THE WHIPP/GREY, wil have more staminar than a pure grey, and more speed than a whippet, it wil genraly be larger than a whippet. This does not make any sense how will it make it have more stamina then a pure grey when a whippet runs out off lungs well before a grey???? And how can yea have more speed tehn a whippet when the whippet is the fastest dog in the world or 60 metres or so sp dont under stand your point?? Quote Link to post
taffyboi 19
still not really swinging it for me!!! someones got to have a better argument than whats been put up so far???? i knew some 1 who used to own this x and it was a machine on foxe's and a realy good dog on rabbits, better feet than a greyhound turn better than a greyhound, faster than a whippet and more speed than a whippet, qwick off the mark and good pace when in full flight i carnt see the problem with the x the 1 i seen was a very fast and could turn on a penny Quote Link to post
cooper101 86
i know calling it a pointless cross was harsh i needed to get a reaction so that people would enter in this discussion with there opinions!! i like how fiercly defended the whippet x grey was and yor right i have very little experiance of them i just wanted to understand the cross more as i never felt the need for one over my current dog a collie x grey!! hope nobody was offended!!!
