Type " landywood pet foods" into google they can supply good tripe deliverd to your house :)

Chicken has alot of fat witch is good that is good fuel for the dog ... tripe hasnt got so mutch fat but is super digestable protein ' its good to feed both together ;)

:icon_eek: Why wait, mate? My one's (JR) been fed on raw meat and bones from the day I bought her home, at 8 weeks old!

Err ..... I think we could say she's doing alright on it too!

Start 'em right: Get it down 'em! :good:

Looking at all the raw feeding sites and scouring rainmakers posts with intense concentration id say . . swerve the veggies stick to the meat . . . Controversial subject which has caused many a debat but they dont need it.

I read a Article saying that the dog may become tremendously constipated without meat when they take down alot of bone :icon_eek:

I wouldn't Want my dog in distress because of this!!

Is this constipation thing common with RAW meat??

 Swift and simple, mate: Feed a Dog Only bones and it's gut's block up like a lump of chalk! Feed it Only raw flesh and it's shit may become a little tarry and sticky. That's why every one talks of " Meaty " bones. The clue is in the 'Meaty' bit ;)

I give my lot breast of lamb and, a few times a week, I chuck in some Ox Heart. Why? Because this is what's available to me :) But it's Fantastic grub and I honestly do envy my own bloody Dogs! I eat poxy f***in beefburgers, because I have no teeth. My lot have strong, pearly white gnashers that vets go raving mad about ~ they're used to dry shit fed Dogs with brown, loose teeth, see? Can't believe my lots teeth, when they see 'em.

As for veg? I chuck a small fist full of chopped up, raw cabbage in mine, as many nights as not. Why? Because I was brought up to. They love it and it doesn't seem to do them any harm. Carrots are favoured too. Dogs also relish the odd slice of bannana. " It's unnecessary! It's unnatural! ", some cry. True. A wild wolf would never meet a bannana in the wilderness. But then, not would any white man, in His natural element! :hmm:

Bottom line is; I'm niether fanatical nor purist. I'm definately not a Canine Nutritional Scientist. But my family's fed a few Dogs down the years and one or two have turned out not too bad at all.

Pop along to ye butcher and ask for a couple of Breasts of Lamb. If he offers to hack it into managable chunks? Fine. If not, hack off a puppy sized chunk and put it in front of that pup. Then stand back, aghast, as it turns into a Wild Ravening Beast, right there before ye bulging eyes!

Then ask yeself if That can be wrong! :good:

Do you reckon it's more cost efficient to buy the meat from a butcher or to buy it from landywood pet food in pound bags??

Ive been giving my pup chicken carcass mince I had off the breeder he gets 20lb blocks for £2 each I might go back and get more then chuck some cabbage in you reckon that'l be enough or will she need a couple of hearts a week or something?? :hmm:

Landywoods I've never used, mate. I do see a lot of other people initially very happy with them and their MINCED products though ..... But they're missing the point entirely :(

If ye feed Minced meat (Think of me and my Beef Burgers) then the Dog's really just taking up mouthfuls and swallowing. See? And I have NO Teeth left in my top jaw. Why? I never cleaned my teeth with a brush. My gums got diseased and my teeth Fell Out! :icon_eek: That's what will happen to Dogs, not allowed to clean Their teeth as nature created them and intended. Dogs CLEAN their teeth by CHEWING. Bones and CHUNKS of flesh. If the mincer's done that chewing for them? You're only half way there.

Now imagine me trying to act like a Dog. Snatch up some wriggly live quarry with my mouth. It's slip off my damn gums and get away! And I'd have been no good for some years before either; Because my teeth were working loose, one after the other. If I tried to bite, it hurt. I was doubly f***ed. I couldn't bite to clean them - like a Dog. I couldn't even stand using a brush on them - it shook them and That hurt! A Dog brought up not knowing bones WILL get gums like mine. Er ..... 'Disadvantage: Hunting Dog!'.

As for cost? Try it. Ask some butchers for Breasts of Lamb and Ox Hearts. I've liturally staggered up the road, almost in tears of laughter. Staggering under the immense weight of fantastic feed I'm lugging. Laughing because I feel I've ripped them off! Don't tell them; But I'd happily pay a LOT more for such gear!

You ask if chicken mince, a scrap of cabbage and an odd bit of heart will be enough? NO! There's No BONES TO GNAW. That lot, but with a couple of lamb breasts spread out over the week? That'd be Great! Just so long as the Dog gets those VITAL Bones with each meal. It's just like we clean our own teeth after food - If we know what's good for us! :icon_redface:

Yours; Gummy the Suck!

Suppose it makes complete sense :hmm:

1st thing on my to-do tommorow a trip to the butchers!!! :yahoo:

Will the bones b ok with the pup though and do I just hack it up and give it to her in little bits or will she just get the whole thing??? :hmm:

Many thanks though Ditch :signthankspin:

Mate -if your switching to raw from another food ,say dry then its imperitive that you introduce slowly ,especially a pup .Increase the amount of raw slowly per day and this means mincing it and allowing it to stand for a while mixed with the dry .The dry will absorb some fluid off the raw and hopefully will not be left in the dish .Incease slowly until the pup is on raw only then feed as it comes .A propper raw diet as I know it will only contain 20% bone .You need to remove the bone to achieve this .In the case of a pup its not good practice to let them gourge at one sitting .Stomach upsets can occur resulting in dehydration .Better to feed 3 or 4 small meals a day.The case for vegetable matter is a debatable one .Veg does contain minerals and vitamins not found in flesh so I tend to feed it when the famliy has it with good results .
