boyo 1,398 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Share Posted February 23, 2010 i run lurchers and hate to see hares being shot just doesnt seem right to me but before anyone starts on at me its just the way i feel would never say anyone else shouldnt do it because each to their own sport just has a lot of shooters would be disgusted at one of my lurchers taking a pheasant off the floor. as i say each to their own glad you had a good day. There is some truth in that numbers are being kept down to keep the dog lads away from the land but i doubt we will see the end of the brown hare, theres still plenty of them about. danebrewer10 6 Posted February 24, 2010 Report Share Posted February 24, 2010 I have seen, but not shot these up close and they're not small, I would say no 5 is a tad on the small side, I would go for no4 minimum, but ideally No3, if they're as tough as rabbits, and they'll be panicked and the adrenalin will be pumping, you'll want those larger pellets, charge weight, probably 32-34 grams or 36 if you're not shooting too many, then you could open up the chokes and have a bigger pattern whilst maintaining the same pellet density...
