brno17 5
as already said you wont go far wrong with 32 grams of 4s or 5s, aim up front head and shoulder area on them and you'll knock them down no probs. good luck and atb alan. Quote Link to post

Waste of a wonderfull creature,, do they really do that much harm, damage ? and are they found in the huge numbers they used to be ?,, i think they should be left alone,, i hate to see them get shot a scury away to a long and painful death,, the kills just aint clean enough for my likeing,, and the strong aswell as the week are getting killed,,shooting hares,,, what a waste of such an athlete,, Edited February 15, 2010 by merle24 Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
5's or heavier, and keep the choke tight, but prefer a rifle anyway!! Next to none in my county so I have to travel for these! Quote Link to post

The area where we are shooting is prolific in hares with an annual cull in excess of 100 hares. I am reliably informed they do as much damage to farmers crops as any other pest and as such a cull is required to keep the numbers to an acceptable level. I started the post to ask advise as to what load would make a clean kill as if im going to shoot the animal i want it done in a clean and quick manor and not to cause the animal any distress. Will post my results, if you dont hear from me consider it that i missed them all lol. Quote Link to post

Spot on NCB, but don't underestimate your shooting ability, have a positive attitude and you WILL hit some, mind you i didn't say hares or earth! Seriously as long as you enjoy the day, does it really matter if you miss, I don't think so, an i am sure many others will agree. Quote Link to post
North Country Boy 0
Well had a good day on the hare shoot, think the final bag was 54 hare, 5 fox, 2 squirell and 1 lonely pigeon. Good day had by all and i only saw one hare in distress through a combination of poor shooting or shooting with the wrong cartridge, quite a few guys shooting with 30gm 7shot. Quote Link to post
