paulk73 151
just got myself a secondhand chainsaw, to use as a smoker.ive taken the chain and bar off, and the plate that directs the exhaust. under the plate is just a hole where the exhaust comes out, its about 20/25mm deep just wondering how to attach the pipe and then the rubber tubing. should i just tap in a piece of copper pipe and then attach a length of hose. or is copper too soft. also what type of hose is the best? please help. nakednutt 58
the ones ive made have been metal tubing welded on to the exhaust and just a good thick rubber hose attached with a jubilee clip. copper might bend easier than steel if it gets a good knock. but ive never tried it myself Quote Link to post
willum 89
i always use a peice of steel pipe about 6-8 inches long welded on then blag a piece of hydraulic hose off the farmer and jubilee clip it on works for me and my mates Quote Link to post
Hunter hendy 0
I have just got an old chainsaw of a mate, Tapped a bit of old copper tube in exhaust and added about 4ft of hydrolic pipe on to the tub with a clip works a treat Quote Link to post
slingshot82 32
Use steel pipe mate, copper will bend easily once hot with the temperature of the exhaust gasses. And whatever flexi hose you use will have to cope with high temp too, someone has already mentioned it but hydraulic hose works well. Atb mate Quote Link to post

nakednutt 58
most heavy rubber hose will do as the pipe will lose most of the heat before it gets to the rubber. thats why you make it a long piece of pipe. Quote Link to post
