a mk6 fenn is the trap for rabbits, if you dont know the full usage of traps, Id recomend you read up alot more before using them

you place them within the entrance of the warren, lightly burying them, the tunnel entrance then acts as the artificial tunnel

Dont use fens for rabbits mate its just a waste of meat unless your using them for ferret food. Get a ferret, snare or shoot them.

Sorry, but I have to disagree.

Fenn traps placed properly in the entrance to burrows are a very effective form of rabbit control.

A well placed fenn will normally catch the upper part of the rabbit, head & chest.

There isnt much meat i worry about there, this is for the ferrets and the Meaty end. ie the back half is for me, everybodys happy

i dont think there is a lot of over kill in a MK6 fenn trap, over the years i have had mink, rats rabbits ,and squirrels survive a whack ,off of Mr Fenns products. One of my ferrets was caught by a Fenn that had been set for rabbits, hes still running round his cage eighteen moths later ,with not the slightist sign of overkill.

When you wonder into the world of "overkill".....

I have to say I consider the 6 useful, but it is nowhere near as powerful as this...

I nearly had a big accident with this last year.

There is an estate near me that has big probs with rabbits. There already is a sort of keeper on the estate (its not a sporting estate-long story) but anyway i was asked if i could come and help put a dent in the rabbits on a certain part of it. No problem for me, so i set about steadily reducing numbers on this section with my 22lr and often ferreting as well.

BUT there was wires crossed and the "keeper" was still coming onto the section i had been alloted and had decided to put fenn traps in the openings of the holes without telling me. :wallbash:

Me and my mate turns up , started ferreting, but had opted for slipping ferret in and standing above with the shotties. We were stood there and i happened to notice a trap-luckily not covered! :icon_eek: So after a second of shouting and screaming we managed to run round and set all the traps off with the spit without the ferrets being harmed.

I was bloody furious. If i had been ferreting to nets i would have noticed the traps, and yes, with hindsight i should have checked the holes first but when you are going regular to a spot and you dont think anyone else is culling here, you tend to do what you want.

Luckily the lad had (illegaly i think) sat them right at the mouth and hadnt covered them, otherwise i would have lost a ferret.

Bodygrips anyday, my opinion anyway, especially when it comes to cost, size and trapping numb squirrels... blink.gif
