What to put over my bitch?

Recommended Posts

Hi peeps...As the title says i'm looking to breed my bitch, she's coming up to 6 now she's 5/8 Greyhound 3/8 Collie and stands 23tts.She's only ever been used for lamping and ferreting has will the pup be that i keep from the planned mating.I was thinking of a whippet/greyhound to put over her...though i would be open to other suggestions.Does anybody know of any good whippet/greyhounds at stud preferably in south wales area though would travel for the right dog...yis John

put a half saluki 1/4 whiipet 1/4 grey over her and u will have some litter that will be more than capeble of takeing all quarry.and bags of rabbit.

Would agree with that entirely.

Another good option would be the Beddy x's mentioned,we had lurchers round our area 30 yrs ago bred this way and they are some of the best allrounders ive ever seen, very capable dogs.

If you do go down the whippet/grey route try and use a first cross and not the non ped whippet as the two lurchers i have had out of racing champions have been no ware in the same league as pups out of another lurcher type.My choice would be a fast type saluki hybred with loads of running ability.atb dell

its up to you as every one will have a different opinion. if your wanting to breed her she must be a dog that has proven her self and done everything you want, so why not put a good collie grey over her and keep the same stamp of dog you have now. ATB

Have you ever thought of putting an old fashion type working lurcher over her....bred years and years ago to take all quarry (pre ban) and be light enough to cover the ground and jump almost anything with guts of steel.

Fantastic to train and very loyal to their owner??

I have one of these and he has very much proven himself, anyone that works with me and him will tell you the same. he was bred for a purpose and serves it perfectly.

He is a Belgium Shepherd x colie/grey. 25 tts and weights 24kg.

I can show you pictures of him working or arrange for you to see him in action.
