Guest jt750
There is no common land ..it belongs to someone..if you mean areas like parks and public places then its likely your local council
Back Stabbath 1
Right... Well it used to be common... So I'm guessing no then?
SportingShooter 0
If you have permission from the holder of the shooting rights then yes. If not, then no. Same as any other type of permission. As JT says, it belongs to someone. Land Registry might be able to tell you who.
stubby 175
most areas that we class as "common land" will have bylaws attached to them, they normally include no shooting allowed, no hunting, no digging etc but even if they did'nt, you'd still need a reason, wood pidgeons could not be shot just for the sake of it, they are not eating crops, and they cant be shot for sport,
poacher3161 1,766
Simple answer is no as a lot of common land is owned by councils who operate a strict no hunting policy. Also derelict industrial sights are out of bounds as i once got prosecuted for ferreting piles of rubble on a deralict air feild in lincs some years back.atb dell
Swampy 147
There is such a thing as common land! They are few and far between mind as most have been adopted by councils for the puroposes fo recreation. however the ancient by laws are still enforcable. Common land cannot usually be hunted on unless it is the control of pests and getting permission would lie with the council/parish. Evenn though they may not own it. Common land in most cases means that anyone could graze their animals on it. The law re common land has been cahnged a few times over the years due to various things such as development and the gypsies. If you have common land near you it should in my view be protected by all around as they are few and far between.
