What is your personal best bag of rabbets in one night with one dog.

 

My personal best is 29 with my 1/4 bull 3/4 greyhound

thats good going for a 3/4 bred. ive got a 3/4 bred saluki grey and it would struggle to catch half that, i thought saluki was good stamina dogs, i would never have a 3/4 bred dog again

most ive had in one night is 9 out of 12 runs thats with one dog tho that was with a half cross collie greyhound just such bad numbers my way and so many doing it, why dont you think 3/4 are any good?seems a good enough cross to me?

Any dog needs to be run regularly to build the stamina to catch numbers consistently.You also need ground with numbers to catch!

21 rabbits and two hares with my beddy whipet collie grey (on lamp). it only her first season at 19 n half month so hopefully better things to come. theres a lot of quarry where i go though. i would prefer to catch 5 rabbits if they were good runs which made the dog work, fit rabbits that have been lamped a lot and know the craic.

im not knocking 3/4 bred dogs just first one ive had and its always puffing and blowing even when just walking not saying she will jack or anything she might puff and blow all night and still keep catching, ive not really put her to the test yet its only her first season best she has had is 9 bunnies one night, and 4 shot and retrieved long ears another they were her best 2 nights. my mate has a 3/4 bred collie grey it old now but in its day before the ban it had 13 long ears in 1 night single handed so some must be good.i think that with having so much greyhound in some will throw more to the greyhound and burn out quick i must of got one.she is very fast with a good strike though

we had a good night at the start of the season , 35 rabbit but we did have three dogs , single slips like ,we got 19 out of one feild

but a bet they were both run together not that i dissin it i would be buzzing for 20 year if i had done that. i run my dogs single handed as i believe they run the game for longer its more about the chase than the kill for me i had about 20 at the most with 2 dogs and only run single handedly
