Recommended Posts

hi ya everyone

well i got up today sun was shining so put me in a nice happy mood i got a couple of the guns out to clean and do a once over with the crono so i could get the print offs and the bloke said he was coming for my theoben evo so i thought i would get that already for him when he turns up as i was thinking about guns i decided i would give tony wall from sfs a call and prebook a hw97kt fully tune'd as i was chatting to tony i asked him if he would tune my tx200hc while i was there buying the other gun and tony replyed he wouldnt bother as they are tune'd very good already and there would be nothing more else he could do to it :D and that coming off a man that is know to be a guru of gun made me even more happier good day so far well crono a couple of the guns still all running good no drops zero was still spot on getting better then coming to do my theoben evo .20 one well :o cocking was very hard zero gone and recoil well it was like shooting a shotgun  something is wrong she was fine the other day spot on so i got on the net trying to find out anything that would help :( i hate pc's i can never find out anything on them :censored: so i emailed theoben :icon_eek: horror stories but no they emailed me straight back shock or what :o but they said it sounded like the crown so still thinking of the horror stories i phone'd tony wall again and asked him and he said the same but he doesnt do the theobens so i would have to take it to them fare enough so i emailed theoben again and they sent me the reply saying yes by all means post it to us as i already know the part that was needed is £22.00 and then the work that would be needed to do the job so here comes the price anywhere from £80.00 to £ 200.00 :o:o:o:cry::censored::censored::censored::wallbash::angry: so as you can see i aint happy as a friend emailed me today about his cs1000 stock for my tx i could buy that off him yay :tongue2: to you si lol but now i have to put everything on hold until i get this gun sorted plus that means the hw97kt as well :censored::angry: so i am at work in a real :censored: off mood today so if anyone could help in the way of sending me an email with how to strip and replace this crown or any info at all or even know someone that has a gas ram .20 for sale just any kind of info about the theoben evo .20 would do at the min so i could get my head around it and get it up and running again i would be very grateful lads

Hi, Shay.

It does sound like it may well be the piston seal like you've been told but they don't tend to just suddenly fail, especialy if the gun's in regular use.

Not wishing to teach granny how to suck eggs, so to speak, but are you sure the breach seal's ok? It only takes a little bit of crap to get in there when you close the barrel to damage the 'o' ring.

I hope it's all ok soon and does not cost you a fortune!!

Good luck, mate.

Cheers.

well me to buddy as i was thinking of cutting my losses at one stage and thinking would the tx200 fit in the stock and just do the action as and when so i aint to sure yet but i will have a look in the afternoon when i get up as i am on nights plus would the breech seal course it to recoil like that ? and i have just found this would the slr be very much the same ? www.airgunforum.co.uk/slrstrip.htm plus one bloke on there said he has put a spring it his slr ? could i do this ? and if i could put a spring in it how would i go about it ? sorry for all the questions buddy

Yes it would. Any pressure loss along the line will do that as the piston slams into the end of the cylinder without a good cushion of sealed air. The only thing you've said that makes me wonder is the fact that it's harder to cock now.

That would point to the piston in some way but if that's the case, something's come adrift in a bad way...

Edit to say.... It doesn't sound like you've a problem with the ram, so don't be looking at a coil spring. You've got a seal problem, in one way or another.

i see what you mean in a fasion matey i read that if the cocking is hard that could mean it could be running high on power and they lower the pressure to get a softer cocking action is that right ? as i dont really know the theoben 177 evo cocks really nice and soft and shooting consistant at 11.6 very sweet but the .20 i can even zero now as it just wont let me :wallbash: as i feel at the minute lol

hi ya everyone

i just wanted to thank everyone for there support in trying to help me and the nice comments i got.and andyfr1968 for his late night helping me get a picture of what i have to do and how to do it and andy i still have all my fingers left :clapper: right andy the breech seal is new and been replaced today i tapped the valve at the back of the action released so air then tried to cock it and yes matey the cocking of the barrel is alot easier now no leak in the ram at all yes it is the crown i am sure now so i spoke to darren at theoben and he is going to send me a new piston seal to me but and yes a but i have to release the air out of the ram which is fine but my gunshop here doesnt pump them up so after all that i will need to find somewhere that can pump the ram up and crono it at the same time or find someone who can lend me the pump and attachments for it so i can do it at home.

a big thanks to andy and everyone else too
