JohnGalway 1,043
Can settings, such as people adding you as a friend, be set by Admin to require the members permission as a default please. AFAIK ATM it is set so anyone can add you as a friend, and the first thing you know about it is they're on your list As it can cause offense to remove someone, I think it would be good to set it to requiring permission as default. Plus it would give Ian something to do
Malt 379
I wondered why a few appeared on my list without me adding them! Check yours again John...
JohnGalway 1,043
Hi Malt, Same as that. I know how to change them, and that they could be changed. That's not the problem. If they were set on the board by default as requiring permission to become friends it'd be better, IMO.
JohnGalway 1,043
Malt, I will have to carefully consider your application to be my friend. Can you provide any references from long standing members? Edited February 10, 2010 by JohnGalway
SportingShooter 0
John, go to your name on the top right and click for the drop down menu. Go to my settings, click on the Profile tab. The second section on that page is "friends" and there's a friends approval option there
JohnGalway 1,043
You're missing what I'm saying SS. I am saying, currently, the default setting for this board is that anyone can add you as a friend without your approval. You physically need to go into your profile and change it yourself. That should be changed, IMO ,so that the board default is I, you, or whomever, must see the incoming friends request, and approve it, before they're added.
SportingShooter 0
See what you mean now....but its not that much work to change it
bairn79 0
go to edit profile, under friends there is a drop down button select option to be notified if someone ads you as a friend by p.m or email. (i think)

JohnGalway 1,043
I would avoid exams for the next while you two, the most important part is reading the fecking question The problem with the setting as it is now, is that by the time you realise that anyone can add you as a friend without your agreement, it's already been done and X number of people are your friends and you've never heard of them before in your life. Then you're in the situation, who is that person? Are they dodgy and should I remove them? Are they genuine? Who knows, if I remove them will they lose the plot
