I know the dickless shellsuit wearing c@~ts do it to their staffys etc to make themselves look hard but why on a working dog? i dont know mate, for some reason i thought it might have been to stop their ears gettin damaged when hittin into the bushes or maybe even to keep the tops of the ears flopping over and blocking their hearing, i aint got a clue, i'll av a look on ere for the pic i see, im pretty sure the pic was from england too. Guest jt750
Its illegal as someone said and if you do it or own a dog that has it done i would imagine a cruelty charge being put on you pretty quick and the onus would be on you to prove you didn't do it ..and how you going to do that ...i wonder ...oh and btw that dog just looks to have small ears Quote Link to post

wulf 32
yeah the ears just look small or folded over to me it is illegal in britain though - some of the continental breeds which are imported over to here have the ears cropped the presa canario and cane corso for example. not sure why its done though i have my suspicions best not aired on a public forum... YOKEL 2,297
That dog has not got cropped ears,(just looks like a rose ear to me). neither have i ever seen a dog with cropped ears in this country(APART FROM IMPORTS).Have read it many times, mainly in anti propaganda shite, but yet to see any real evidence of significant numbers. It is totally illegal in this country as others have stated and is purely cosmetic and of no use to a working dog, infact cropping is more of a hinderance as the flap that is cut/cropped off is what protects the inner ear from getting damaged... stabba 10,745
No way are that dogs ears cropped... if they were they would be stood erect which puts the emphasis on the size of the dogs head.. after all.. thats the only reason it is done... purely for aesthetic reasons.... it is and should remain illegal in this country because it is a barbaric act which has no bebeficial reasons for the poor dog...atb stabba Quote Link to post

Yokel yeh i thought that croppin the ears would have removed any protection to the inner ear, but if so then why breed a working dog with such small ears? ( if it was intended to do so) and it must of taken a fair bit of breeding to produce a dog with such small ears Quote Link to post

( if it was intended to do so) and it must of taken a fair bit of breeding to produce a dog with such small ears i don't see where the dog has unduly tiny ears? like i said, they just look like a tight rose ear to me, which is going to be common for a bull cross. why do you think this dog was specifically bred for small ears??? likewise, why are you bothered by it? i'd like to think, being a lurcher, it was bred for it's working ability, not it's ear size...
