Land Checks

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Could anyone with experience of having land checks done please tell me how long it usually takes? Still waiting from before Christmas. Is this usual? I had a note in with my ticket saying that the application for the checks had been made to the relevant force and I would be informed in due course but still no news.

I would appreciate your views.

Pete

just give the police force your land come's under a ring and ask about it. tell them the farmer has been on to you to sort the vermin out and you want to no if its past.

because you dont want to lose the land

I had already tried to contact them and had no joy at all. Just tried again and spoke to a great lady. They are checking 3 plots for me but she read from the paperwork that they only received the request on 2nd Feb!!!. She said it usually takes a maximum of 4 weeks but has taken my mobile number and said she will inform me directly so I don't have to wait for the info to be passed to my force. One plot needs a serious dose of bunny bashing but I was told it had not been passed for any calibre, this was the one I was really waiting for and she told me that according to the database it was already passed for .22rf. Why Can't they all be as helpful and how come my force/area gave me duff info in the first place? It is a common database and from what I am told needs no interpretting, just read off the facts! As a newbie to the fac thing it certainly is a complex beastie.

Regards,

Pete

I'm assuming that where you live and where this land is comes under different force areas?

This confused my FEO too. I spoke to the area FLO covering the land I've been asked to shoot and they confirmed that the land has never been surveyed but the neighbouring fields are cleared to .22LR (which is what I want to use there) and they said that I can't request a survey from them and that the request has to come from the force which issued my FAC.

I put all the details on an email on the 20th Jan, phoned one of the girls in the FLO last week and she couldn't find it so I gave her all the details over the phone. She then phoned me on Monday and told me again that she couldn't find the email, though she shouldn't need it now so I re-sent it directly to her... the wait continues.

I think the only way is to gently nudge them regularly.

I left a comment just like this on the forum in December for pretty much the same reason. The cops just seem to take it way to easy, as one comment said that the only thing on their minds is their next cup of tea but I was warned about nudging them or keeping on at them as I put it as you might get on there bad side which l think is good advice. Needless to say got my FAC last week 3 months after handing in my application.

Yep, that's the same scenario, had my faith was renewed though due to the efficient response from the force where the land is. It seems that my local force could learn a thing or two from them!

Hi Big Pete for what its worth I fall under South Yorkshire, the land I though was under Notts but it turned out to be Derbyshire (although a Notts post code), that being said it took around 6 weeks to get it passed.

All you can do mate is phone and ask if its been passed if not, can you have an estimated date when this will be the case.

Cheers for the information Seeker.

Will have a crack at the bunnies this weekend but the foxes will be getting a stay of execution till the land is passed (or not) for C/F.

Pete
